  1. Anybody interested in getting together on a weeknight evening to work through The French Experience (BBC Course) and do a bit of conversation?  I am waiting to do the next City Lit course (£70) and there is no way of getting on their course until September 2007!!! If any French person, living in London, fancies giving this group a bit of a lead I know a room in a pub in London Bridge and if we all paid £50 that might cover the cost of the room hire and give the 'course' leader some money to boot???  I have a house in France, lovely neighbours and they all want to gossip and invite me round for a chat, so I need to improve my French in order to supply said gossip.  Given the local accent is also quite strong (Languedoc), I am really having to concentrate a lot.  I go down every six weeks to spend either a weekend or two weeks at the house. If anybody is interested, email me at: [email protected] Lizzie
  2. Anyone know of a good place to get some logs near Limoux or Carcassonne?  I get some from a pal who buys a big load, each autumn, but he has a larger woodburner and I'd like to get some cut to the size of my woodburner and delivered whilst I am next down...which will be in August! LizzieJ
  3. Hi there, Have just seen my pal Fay's post, yes, I try and go over to the Aude every six weeks if I can, from London.  I can't find anywhere to leave my car apart from the long-term parking at Carcassonne Airport (and yes, c 300 Euros for the year).  Two friends of mine live permanently near Limoux, so the solution I have is for them to use my car as a second car, whenever they want. They keep my car in their barn. In return, they leave my car at the airport when I come, and pick it up when I go.  This sort of works for both parties. The only other thing is to put a notice up in the Tabacs around the aiport asking if there are any garages to rent, and as you know, there ain't many of those as it's all shopping malls on the ringroad around Carcassonne. Maybe you might be able to ask if there are any garages for rent via the Immobiliers in Carcassonne.  If you find anything, post a note, and I will do the same. LizzieJ
  4. Hi folks, I have a house in the Languedoc and I rent it out.  The rental income just covers the bills for part of the year.  I am resident in the UK and pay tax in the UK.  Some questions: 1. Should I declare the small amount I get, which would be below 5,515 Euros (i.e. under the tax threshold it looks like, reading a post here). 2.  Should my changeover person give me an invoice with the tax separated out, and if so, what % rate of tax is due for cleaning and changovers? 3. If anybody does any building for me, they should also give me an invoice with the % of tax separated out....19% or 19.5%?  Just checking! 4. Should I declare accounts in France as my income is so low? Hope someone can answer these questions. Many thanks, LizzieJ
