  1. Thanks very much for all your help. Maybe you can give me an idea of what is the norm for fitting a wood burning heating system to a house of this type in France? I really would like to know as it would help on deciding how to plan the layout of the building ..etc. Any feedback from people who have had this work done would be very much appreciated. Thanks again Marcus.
  2. Do you think it would be ok to use a French copper cylinder with expansion chamber, under mains pressure, and coil inside it to heat the water from the boiler. And would I need a header tank still for the boiler circuit? Thanks Marcus
  3. Here is a link I have found regarding wood burners to hot water systems. Can anyone give me an idea of the correct way one would be installed? http://www.hunterstoves.co.uk/main/useful_stove_information.htm Oh yes! it's under-  Frequently Asked Questions, Then Can I Connect To A Pressurised System. Many Thanks Marcus
  4. Yes, I have heard of this to. I have tried to find some types of sytems in reference books but not much luck. Thanks Marcus
  5. That would be better for me if that is the case. I just thought what might happen if the boiler gets too hot and starts to boil, where would it expand to? I would be very interested to hear if it can be done without a header tank as it would save me a lot of work and space. Hopefully someone already has fitted a wood burner with back boiler. And how does the system work? Thanks for any help. Marcus
  6.   We have a single storey farm house with a roof space above, near Mayenne Dept 53 I am thinking of having a wood burning stove fitted with a back boiler.  Does anyone know if an open vented system will be my only option? With having to rely on gravity pressure feed for my hot water, and a cistern in the roof space.  I ask this as I am sure I have read somewhere that any type of sealed mains system would be out of question with this kind of boiler. I would be interested in anyone’s comments especially those who have had similar done. Many thanks Marcus.
  7. We have just purchased a house in the Mayenne area and will require the services of a sandblaster to clean our dirty beams. Is there anyone out there that has used and can recommend a local company?
  8. Many thanks for your help, we shall have to give them a call. Marcus & Carolyne
  9. Can anyone help? We are in the process of buying a property in the Mayenne area, which requires a septic tank to be fitted. Is there anyone in the same area that can recommend a good company that they have used, and were happy with. Thanks Marcus & Carolyne.
  10. Thanks very much for the advice. Much appreciated. Marcus & Carolyne
  11. Can anyone help? We are in the process of buying a property in Mayenne. On visiting the property we noticed that the timber beams and the walls in the barn are blackened, I presume from when animals were kept inside. Well it was also noticed that some woodworm treatment would need to be done. I have heard of people sand blasting the timbers prior to treatment, and was wondering why you could not just as easily jet wash them with an industrial power washer. Surely there would not be as much mess to clear up after either. And at a cheaper cost I would have thought. Please if anyone has tried this could they let me know if it was OK. Thanks Marcus & Carolyne.
  12. Just a thought, is there any reason why you could not use a powerful jet washer. Cannot see that it would be that expensive either.
