.  Also she said she has pm'd Bassman and was anxious to know whether he knew the 'man' so whats the answer Bassman?

Hmmmmm not recieved a PM [8-)] But I think I know who she means , I met him a few times when we rehearsed in his parents house but he was a bit errr "up himself" at the time having just got a deal LOL, my mate who was the bass player in that band(I played guitar in that one) was in the "man's" band a year or so later so he knew him better [;-)]

    Hi Paul,

KKK has confused things a little (bless her) i sent you a pm asking you if you knew or remember the Man band a welsh 70's band?
Ah right

Tresco--- I wish I was  famous...... no not really it looks like a pain in the bum being famous LOL

The "man" I thought you may have been reffering to was Chris Rea as I was in a band with his brother Adrian many.many, many years ago[:)]

Twinkle---- yes I remember MAN well Deke Leonard and co. still got a few of their albums on vinyl [8-|]

Paul, smash it up with a Lump Hammer.

It will only annoy you in the end if you don't. It's a job better done now.[:)]
Yeah I probably will unless I can get someone to take it away along with the rest of the bathroom and kitchen sink etc. Didn't want to start swinging a sledge hammer in the bathroom as it's not very big and I would have probably taken a wall out by accident [:-))]

Paul, have you looked at the fusebox itself?    Ours turned out to have two separate fuses for the water heater.   If someone's done something weird like that, maybe the Arret only switches one of them off?

The electrician who sorted our Pleines/Creuses timer out did the French equivalant of the sharp intake of breath and "what cowboy did THAT?".   Some things are universal.  [:)]
I was wondering about that, the timer switch is in the fusebox and there is another switch next to it which MOH thinks is something to do with the fosse pump but to me it looks older than the next one which IS the fosse switch which was only installed last year, I'm going to try turning that off tomorrow when we leave and see what we have next month... hot or cold water [:D]

  4.
Not seen one like that, the more normal, or at least most common will have something like:

O (Off) Auto or  I (Override) was it left on A (Auto) ? Otherwise I am probably going to be surprised why it was hot !
It definatley has 3 positions marked Arret ,Heures Creuses and Heures Pleins  no Auto and when I looked it was on Arret tis' very strange[:-))]

  5. Well we spent today removing the bath, next month we are fitting a new suite and decided to get a head start and take the bath out, After knocking down the terracotta brick wall that was acting as a bath panel I found we had a cast iron bath!!!!! in a nice shade of greeny/browny/goldy yuck[:-))]

Ever tried moving a cast iron bath ?? if not don't they are exceedingly damn heavy and awkward esp. in a small bathroom, still we got it out between the two of us with only one elastoplast (me) and one pulled back muscle(Patti)

I'll get to grips with French plumbing and the weird selection of pipe sizes next month I supposeLOL [:D]

  6. On this subject... we arrived at the house on Friday lunchtime and about half an hour later MOH said "oh you turned the water heater on then" .... errr NO! but we had hot water [8-)] it was 3 weeks ago when we were last here and the switch was set to Arret [8-)] it has the positions Arret ,Heures Creuses and Heures Pleins any idea why it would be hot??

  8.
Actually I'd rather be alone in Paris than London any day!
Got to agree with that [;-)]

Only ever had one almost dodgy moment in Paris... we were walking along a rather nice but empty boulevard and my wife had a rather expensive camera round her neck, a "youf" walking towards us pulled a knife out of his pocket as we approached !!  but he took one look at my face and hurriedly put it away and hurried off [:D] sometimes being a very big ugly bloke helps [;-)] LOL and as my wife points out to me my facial expressions give away what I am thinking very well, which in this case was " just try it sunshine and you'll regret it"

Now in London it just feels like one continuous dodgy moment and some guy that kept grabbing my arm asking for cigarettes didn't get the message until I actually offered physical violence [:-))]

  9. I saw that [:D] I couldn't believe their attitude [:(] it was everybody's fault but theirs [;-)] I loved the presenters point about doing the same in the UK as well, the log house was supposed to be a changing room but they got " a bit carried away" ...... understatement of the century that one [:-))] it was bigger than the original house ! and the idea that they should be allowed to keep it..... so then everyone could say " well we didn't know, so we should be allowed to do what we want"

Opas, please accept my apologies, you deserve a proper answer.  I felt that the banned person was deliberately trying to wind me up, and also to divert a serious thread.  I read some of his other postings, and I stopped posting as I felt that he was just waiting to pounce, and I did not want to get into any arguments.  I felt threatened and I am too old and have suffered too much for more of that, particularly when I thought that the forum was all sweetness and light.  Perhaps I over-reacted, but please accept my apologies.

    Appology and explanation axxepted.

Is my spelling and written grammar really as bad as HIS ?

Unless appology (apology) and axxepted (accepted) were deliberate errors (which I think they were)then errr yes [;-)][:)] LOL

  11.
We are going over later this week to our house which is 7kms from Lurcy-Levis. I thought the circuit was used only for private testing - does it in fact hold events open to the public?
We attended the MOPAR nationals there in 2004 and on 28th May this year it is on again with run what ya brung drag racing event

    http://www.circuit-lurcy-levis.com/uk/html/circuit.htm

Looking at the website they hire it out for events so it may be that the MOPAR events are classed as private testing if they hire the circuit out for the day

  12.
[:)] and prithee tell; what car meeting is that?

[8-|] might need the sunscreen then [B]
The Probe Club de France AGM ( Ford Probe that is [;-)]) followed by the MOPAR Nationals at Lercy-Levis .I help run the United Kingdom Probe Owners Club and I have forged close links with the French club over the last few years[;-)]

  13.
Just to say thankyou for the information, We have booked in at the site, it looks really nice on the website.

                                              Kind Regards, Sugarlady

    Which one???/ [:)]

  14.
Dont forget your smelly Afghan coat on the way out!
Never had an Afghan [:(] I couldn't afford one a couple of my mates did though, I had a very [8-|] green canvas jacket with purple suede patches though and of course the tie-dye grandad shirts and cheescloth shirts aaaaahh those were the days [;-)] very way out man [:-))]

  15.

Hmmmmmmm    OK I play Guitar, bass and sing in bands and have done for ... ooooh too many years [;-)] While my French is rubbish  it would seem my accent is OK cos' the few things I can say are usually understood ...and here's the rub ....they then assume I can speak French well and continue in rapid fire French that just goes straight over my head [:-))]  a bit slower and I might understand it[:D] so I have come to the conclusion that a good accent can be a hinderance if your vocabulary is limited [:D]

Our neighbour rattles away to me in French(or is it Breton[:-))]) and I'm totally lost but when she's speaking to MOH (whose French is waay better than mine) I can understand quite a bit of it [:)] I'm improving but it seems when I learn something new it pushes something old out [8-)]
I've studied your case, Mr. Bassman, and have come to the conclusion that your problem is twofold:

    1)  Your head is full of little round yellow faces
    2)  With your rock & roll lifestyle, you may have unwittingly been subjected to "passive smoking" of some dodgy substances.

There is little we brain surgeons can do about either of these ailments, but I suggest you play your guitar only outdoors in future, and take an Alka-Seltzer or 2 if the little men don't go away.

Hmmmm I think you may just have a couple of valid points there Patrick [;-)][:)]

  16. [:D] Oh dear... bell bottoms(originally worn by sailors) were just that bell shaped from the knee down, flares flared out evenly (i.e. in a straight line) from the knee down usually to 17/19"... now loons were REALLY wide anything up to 30" bottoms and really made of cheapo cotton fabric, no pockets, no belt loops usually no turnover at the heel cos' they dragged on the floor and went ragged , really hip ones had stars printed on them or were split between two different colour fabrics at the knee in a V shape and bought from adverts in the back of Melody Maker and worn with platforms with 5" heels and 3" soles..............OMG I'm really giving my age away here [Www]
  17.
We shall be staying in the Jura, end of May/Early June, and would like to take a trip into Switzerland as it will be so close.

Is there any extra paperwork we will require for our trip, or will the usual bits & pieces be sufficient? Finally can anyone recommend a particular route around lake Geneva, or is it all picture postcard.

    Thanks,

    Bedders
Nope [;-)] if travelling by car you may have to tell your ins.co as it's not part of the EU, but you will probably need to even for France to be covered FC .the last couple of times we have been there they even take Euros (if it's money the Swiss take it [:D])

Yes it's pretty much all picture postcard [:D]
