how does one set up an association in france? thanks in advance.

how do you get the equivalent of legal aid (aide juridictionnelle) in france? thanks in advance

i have read up on this a bit but not sure of all its aspects. how much in social charges are you actually supposed to pay? and is there anything else to be aware of ? what is situation with students ? does this work the same way? i studied in france years ago and remember gettign some jobs via the CROUS which helps students to get jobs. I dont think that the employers ever pay social charges for me or did they? how do i check up on this too?

i went into Credit Agricole today and told them that needed to look into loan to do up a gite and our main house - anything from 20k to 70K . he asked about income and i said main income is from gite business (maybe tea room too with other things). so was told if got some quotes together he would try and get something through for me at the above rate with little or no penalty? this sounds quite good as an option but has anyone else used the loans from gite de france or any other schemes such as ANA (which is run by maison de l'habitat I believe) and what are your thoughts on it?

i read in french news or french connexions about a cheap way of calling the uk with a ringback option that enables family to ring back at 2 pence per minute from the uk but we pay for it and i believe they set you up with an alternative number. unfortunately i have misplaced the number for this. can anyone help? or let me know of options? thanks in advance.

does anyone know of a fast way of setting up a provisional toilet in a house (bearing in mind the sceptic tank is not in place yet) . we've heard that there a toilet that can do this? as we are renovating a house and need to take on people we are worried that they will not have anywhere to have a p. thanks in advance

I have noticed that when we ring some numbers on our france telecom line (which are correct numbers for people we know) we are getting through to other people. obviously we then get charged for these mistakes. what do people recommend? apart from double checking each number is there an easier way of checking up on this as this seems to be happening quite a lot. some kind of monitoring system???

 forgot to pay the france telecom phone bill and they say they are adding a fee on the next bill of 10 euros . are they allowed to do this?   thanks in advance!

thank you very much for your help. it may look like a silly question but believe it or not some insurance companies in the uk do offer quite varied help under their legal advice. If you dont ask you dont know! i prefer to ask questions that may be  silly as i know for a fact that things never seem as they appear and I have learnt a lot on things.

sorry all particularly ron and pat if I have offended you. Have been under a lot of pressure to get some research done by a certain deadline and that is why I have not been able to come back so promptly. My aim is not to offend. I don't often use these forums truthfully. I always try to help when I can.  I am also having lots of problems with my computer which has caught some viruses but no one on this forum seems to have the patience ! Life is definitely about give and take as that is also my motto . But I can give when my computer is working and I no longer have a deadline for work!  I will try and come back more promptly in future.

i have read that in the uk some agricultural land and farms are exempt from inheritance tax is there anything similar in france? not necessarily for farms but for just what exists. thanks in advance

do french insurance companies offer legal help under some of their policies? and if they do offer this option as with some uk insurance companies can be for tax or divorce issues?? one of the policies we have is with halifax i believe.

i have heard about some land that could be bought to build a chalet or wooden house on. we are told that there is no tax to pay (no taxe d'habitation/fonciere). does anyone know why there woudl be no tax? and how this works? also is it easy to sell on? i imagine this owuld have been of interest to a lot of people with no taxes to pay. thanks for any tips.

in the uk in order to drive a car you need to be 17, get a provisional licence and put learner on the car and you can drive on private land to learn in the meantime i believe. what is the law in france on this?

can you be domiciled in france and resident in the UK at the same time? is the wife supposed to be in the same tax situation as the husband? i imagine under uk law  can be resident/domiciled in one coutnry and the husband in another? under french law would this not be different? there are no kids involved ( i know under french tax that if you have children your husband is deemed to be resident in the same country as wife). can anyone enlighten me. thanks in advance

how does it work for planning permission in france. we have seen people viewing the land at the back of our garden. we were told when we bought the property that this was green belt . obviously we would rather buy the land to avoid extra building. does anyone know the law on this? thanks in advance.

if you are looking at setting up a business such as a b&b what is the easiest way of getting a loan/mortgage to do a house? the income would be generated from the b&B business. does one need a business plan before even seeing the bank manager?
