  1. Have also been there twice and on the first occasion there was a gentleman behind the bar who worked in the immobilier in St Sever.  He was either the partner or the husband.  He is no longer there but still works in the immobilier. Yes agree nice people but somewhat overun by stray cats.  Love cats have many of our own but not whilst one is eating. Again the restaurant has been closed for some little time save for mornings when French conversational courses have taken place.  Think it is now open.  It is worth just a visit to see what you think. Perhaps we have come to France for the French lifestyle? However and whilst we would not go back the meal on the first occasion was ok on the second not so ok and we would not go back. regards
  2. Hi obviously the Notaires have their small sub-office on the left hand side as one goes up the main street towards St Lo.  Again their main office is in Villedieu and Villedieu itself has lots of agents offering houses for rental. Have you not found anything to your liking? Please let us know and we will ask our friends and neighbours.    kind regards
  3. Thanks and I now understand.  Yes I have a long standing illness of Rheumatoid Arthritis and have special medication which was approved in the UK by the National Hospital and only after a fight with our Primary Care Trust. I can see where you both are coming from and have taken aboard your comments.  We are truly not adverse to paying for insurance but it was perhaps the case the our judgement was clouded by the 100% concept.  Of course it is only the 100% of those illnesses and for which the E121 was issued and nothing to do whatsoever with other illness (God forbid) However by way of further confusion please have a look at the article in the FPN of this month.  It does to my mind add confusion? I would welcome your views. thanks
  4. I have searched for the perhaps definitive answer but cannot find it in the archives.  Without wishing to upset anyone please can you help on a subject I am sure has been covered many times. My husband and I have recently moved and before we left we had our E121's (fortunately I know that is not the appropriate word but you know what I mean) in that we both suffer from long-term illnesses and mine and for which I have suffered for over 30 years appears on the French list of grave maladies. CPAM have agreed most if not everything at 100% and issued carte vitales but someone suggested top up insurance and then to AXA and for the last ten months we have been paying almost 200 euros a month.  Naturally we have not been able to claim anything from them and we are now beginning to think that this is a futile exercise and indeed a fairly expensive one. I truly do understand that you are no able to recommended or indeed suggest anything that would compromise you in respect of an introduction to another insurer or mutuelle but I really would welcome some feet on the ground advice. thanks
  5. Sorry I have posted this under the Pets forum but perhaps its better here. Briefly a lovely little dog desposited itself on us Saturday night.  She is a charmer but we have three dogs and a cat so its just impossible. Have put notices up in all of the shops been to the Marie to the vet who confirms no tatoo or microchip. Will confirm that nothing will happen to her as I am a keen supporter of the Dogs Trust and she is perfectly healthy. What else please do I have to do and what is the next link in the chain of all of this. I am presuming that alfter a while the onus falls to me? Please can someone help with advice as this is the first time on the forum.   rdgs
  6. Hi or rather she has found us!  We live in a fairly isolated position near Percy between St Lo and Villedieu.  Last Saturday this delightful little dog (cross type minature poodle) turned up at our door.  We already have three dogs and a cat.  Yesterday went around our neighbours and one said that he too had seen the dog at his home but chased it away!  Could not do that. This morning put lots of notices up around the town in the vets and in the Marie and even asked the postman to pass the news around. Our present incumbents have taken a rather hostile approach to the new arrival and we just cannot keep her and as much as we would wish to. The vet says she is not microchipped nor tatooed. What now please is the procedure in France and what more can I do. One thing is for certain she will not be put to sleep for she is healthy and I am a keen supported of the Dogs Trust so just could not do it. Guidance and help please and this is my first time on the forum and having only recently moved to France,   thanks
