  1. Agreed, The weak point is the gland nut at the valve outlet plus the

tube joint on the spigot which is usually a jubilee type clip. The

problem is a very small leak which leads to a gas build up at low level

followed by a flash off. Age of the rubber tubing is also an issue,

most people dont really look at the need for change and you get

cracking with small leakage eventually. You would have to be seriously

destructive to damage a cylinder but the valves can snap off if hit in

the right way ( or wrong way in this case!). You then have an

uncontrolled and uncontrollable gas release which only needs an

ignition source, this leads to a totally spoilt day!!!!

  2. How accurate do you want to be?

The 'crude & dirty' way is, I believe, 5 cu m / kw but its more

cost effective to do the maths and work out the heat transfer

(leakeage) through the fabric of the walls + ceiling + floor. This

involves knowing the 'U' value of each surface, the temperature you

actually want to achieve, the assumed minimum outside (usually -1 deg

C), the area of each surface. Its not particularly difficult, just a

bit of research, measurement and number crunching.

Its a bit late at night to go into more detail, plus typing and

bacardi/coke dont really go together. Google search under Central

Heating Design will give you a feel for the type of calcs needed for

    any particular room.

  3. Whats with this ...'women, multi tasking thing'....Is it because you

cant concentrate on the job in hand or what???? Is it a conspiracy?, in

the genes, women all over the World seem to have the same idea.

We men ( or at least me!) can multi task, I can drink, smoke and watch

TV all at the same time, even have a conversation simultaneously, now

    THATS multi-tasking !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Regards

ps I can even iron shirts

  4. Regarding the chocolate fireguard, There is a much cruder version in common 'building type site' use which

involves the word Bull which I am sure no-one would dream of quoting on

    a family forum.

  5. A policeman's patrol car is the equivalent of his office whilst he is

on the job (ooops) and his consensuel partner was not a fellow employee

yet he was severely disciplined (cant remember the punishment) I

somehow can't see the DPM being treated in the same way, heis one of

    Tony's mates!!!!!!

  6. We tried to get one from the newsagents in Villedieu ( near the traffic

lights opposite the church) were told they have been discontinued, just

write your time of arrival on a piece of paper and put it on the

    dashboard !!!!!

Not sur if my Pendle Council blue disc will be accepted !

  7. Bannon,

I certainly agree that as a European Union all the members should be

more liberal with the acceptance of the language of the other members.

I just dont see it happening quickly in France as I sense a ''fear''

that the French language may be sidelined, as in fact it is in major

    businesses.

I deal daily with a major French company and very rarely have to change

from English, even in meetings in Paris (just as well as my French is

not really up to it by any stretch of anyones imagination!!!).

I take your point about Wales, my UK licence paper copy is still in

Welsh + English and I never got beyond the extreme basics. My daughter

is however fluent in Welsh as are (some) of my grandchildren. I believe

its due to Category A schooling that was supposedly bi-lingual ( but

    meaning Welsh first!!)

    Regards

  8. Don't know about the love them part, but hate for sure in respect of Lloyds -TSB.

Order over net for £600 of kit on visa card. TSB bounce the request for

payment, when asked (after going through the robotic press this answer

that syndrome ) was told ' it was unusual usage', of course it was, I

dont know many  (or any!) people who spend £600 daily on their

credit card. They agreed that the card limit was substantially more

than needed but they were not going to inform us of their actions. What

exactly is the point of a credit card? and how does such action impact

on personal credit rating in the future?

It got sorted out after numerous overseas phone calls (£1 a minute !!!!)

BTW this was second time by TSB in last 4 months.

Conclusion:- they are a waste of rations with zero customer relations skills.Woot! [:-))]

  9. Zeb,

I sincerely hope not, at least whilst I still have financial assets in pounds !

My hope is a strong dollar (US) as thats effectively what I am paid in.

The Euro can be as strong as anything after retirement but until then - please no!!!!!
