I noticed that too. I just hoped that she had knickers on, especially as the cameraman was low down [+o(]

There's a really good Thai restaurant in Ribérac that I went to recently. There was an ad posted on the door looking for staff. It said that applicants should 'have a good level of English' [8-)] Say's it all really.

Where are you Lindsey? There are depot-vente shops around that sell second hand baby equipment and clothes. It's really worth having a look. I know that there are ones in Périgueux, Angoulême and Mareuil. They are privately run though not chains.
-
If you don't mind travelling a little further afield then I can recommend Decoceram in Périgueux (near Auchan). The have a huge selection of quality tiles. Don't be put off by the displayed prices - when you place an order they seem to automatically knock off about 25%.
...about 20 mins from Bergerac...
In what direction? It could make a difference with call outs/area covered.

Who said anything about being 'highly intelligent'? It's common sense not to stand in the path of a moving car..
Don't forget if you want to exchange your UK licences and want to keep all the groups on it (Towing larger trailers or a caravan for example) then unless you have a medical certificate you will not be able to transfer these groups.
You cannot get the certificate from any doctor. You have to go to an approved doctor. You can get the list from your Mairie. I have fairly recently got my categories added retrospectively having changed my licence over a few years ago. The medical is fairly basic and costs about €25 which is non-reimbursable.

Tragic. And to be witnessed by the daughter too.Second salutory lesson: never try to stop a car by getting in it's path. I can't believe anyone would be stupid enough to think they could possibly stop it.
There seems to be a lot of french people on holidays here at the moment, not families with kids because the schools have not broken up yet but middle aged/retired types from other depts and also other countries especially the UK. I do wonder if its because of the economic problems at the moment and attractive out of season charges for accomodation and that we shall see a lack of visitors for July and August because people are worried transport costs are going to be prohibitive to holiday travel either by car or plane. I know from our tourist office that bookings are low this year already so only a heatwave might bring folks out.
There are a lot of Brits around at the moment because it's half term in the UK, families and couples (teachers).

I did the GRETA french classes about 4 years ago in Ribérac. The teacher was excellent (Isabel). But the classes certainly weren't free. At the time it was roughly €120 a term though there was the possibility once of sitting an interview that gave me entitlement to an additional written french course of an hour or two a week.

Thanks Ysatis now I have looked up what conditional means [;-)] I think you might be right
So :
Ils ne me donneraient pas une voiture = They would not give me a car
Ta lass[:)]
If you have a would/could/should then there is no translation for this word - you use the conditional tense. -
There's a brocante warehouse near us. It's in the middle of nowhere really. They have a driveway alarm with PIR to forewarn them that clients have arrived and so need to open up the barn. One part is connected to the brick built dog kennel and the other side of a drive is a refelective disc attached to the wall. The first time I visited it made me jump 4' in the air - it's so loud and screechy. Now, if I take visitors there I don't say anything and wait for their reaction [6]

It's a young cricket, (grillon), possibly grylllus campestris, but I'm not completely convinced of that, definitely a cricket anyway.
Chris
Yes, definitely a grillon. -
Jardiland or any other garden centre/nursery.Or you could try online from somewhere like:http://www.plantes-et-jardins.com/catalogue/recherche.asp?textfield=clematis%20montana

So you get red central heating fuel in France then Ernie? Who supplies that then?

My heating oil comes from the local supplier inthe village. I don't ask him for red or anything special, I just ordera delivery and it turns up. He's the same supplier the previous ownersused to use so obviously knows what fuel to bring.
Our 'fioul' is also red, delivered from Auchan (fioul ordinaire) for the last five years. I know it's red because there is a glass 'filter' thingy in between the oil tank and the boiler and I can clearly see it's red.

We planted one 2 yrs ago in a pot (roughly)...
You really should be more gentle when planting out wisterias - they are really sensitive things you know [;-)] [:$] -
Auchan do them too, have done for some time.

Maison Secondaire owners can vote in the commune of their MS as long as they are resident elsewhere in France ie: that doesn't include British resident MS owners.

In our village here in france they use the heavy duty paper sacks from the boulangers. They work perfectly well, ask your local boulanger.
Door handle -brass anad china 'sausage' shape. Screw not poperly fastened - china part has fallen off and smashed. Can one buy new china 'sausage' ? If so, where? PB
It would be usefeul if we knew where you are. There is a hardware/builders merchants store just outside of Périgueux ("Périgord Bois") that sells them. We changed all our door handles for Limoges porcelain ones.
...but I don't know how to get involved.
Have you actually spoken with your neighbour?

I went to Chateau Neuvic in the Dordogne yesterday for a plant fair. There were a huge number of salvias there - I bought some. It doesn't help you, but keep an eye out for similar events. Around here there are many 'Floralies' coming up where similar exposants will have stands.I don't know where you are mooky but I have the list of exposants with their phone numbers if you are interested in contacting them directly.

Instead of 'shall' I find it easier to think of 'will' with the future tense (who uses 'shall' these days?).J'irai au cinema la semaine prochaine = I will go to the cinema next week.Je vais au cinema demain = I'm going to the cinema tomorrow.

I only noticed them this year for the first time (after 6 years [:$] ) but there are some around our Monument aux Morts, some in a front garden up the road from me and more long the stream that runs out of the water source (lavoir).I love to see a woodland full of bluebells, so beautiful. I must try and source some bulbs to put in our garden. EDIT: Nell, I just noticed you are in the same region - maybe I could take some of your unwanted ones [I]
