  1. Hi everyone

I think this is probably one for Chris, but advice form all forum members greatly received!!  I think with the upturn in the weather, (very warm, fruit trees in blossom and birds nesting)  our two hedghehogs that have been sound asleep in their 'hedgehog house' (built to exacting standards!!!) have woken up!  I have seen signs of their 'poop' in the garden but haven't looked inside the house, in case the poop isn't theirs[:P].  My question is, as its too early for them to have woken up and there isn't a great deal of 'natural' food for them, should I feed them dog food or catfood??  Do I need to put water etc. out for them or leave them to do what hedgehogs do. Any advice greatly received[:D]

    Thanks in advance

  4. Hi Roxy

Have you tried to contact the company that manufactures Chappie to ask if it is available in France.  When we moved to France with our old dog, I tried to find the food she was used to eating in the UK but had no luck.  In the end I emailed the manufacturer and told them where I was now living and if the brand was available to buy in France or via the internet.  I received a reply with details of the name of the same brand in France and also links to the French website for further info on shops etc.  Needless to say, our pooch was in doggy heaven after that!  Hope this helps and good luck!!!

  5. Hi everyone

I am trying to find out if games for the Nintendo Wii bought in the UK will play on a console bought in France.  I have emailed Nintendo, but as yet not had a reply.  I know years ago when we had an old nintendo console we bought in the UK games bought in France worked, but with changing technology and the games being on discs, I wondered whether they had been 'locked'.  Does anyone out there on the forum know the answer or better still using both English and French bought games etc.  Any advice, as always, is greatly appreciated and I will continue to wait for Nintendo to offer up some advice!

    Many thanks in advance

  6. Hi everyone

Hope some one can offer some advice.  I have an apple tree that is a little 'sick' but also have a root  treatment for it that I will be doing during Feb before new growing season.  But I have noticed today some tiny white mushroom/fungus have appeared on the trunk.  How do I get rid of them, do I scape them off or is there a product I will need to buy.  I don't want to cut it down because it is is a lovely old tree and would prefer to save it.  Any advice would be helpful.  Many thanks

  7. Hi everyone

Sorry if this has been 'done' before, but I have been trying to save my email folders which have been created and are stored on my messagerie account in wanadoo/orange.  I have looked in the assistance section in messagerie and cannot find anything that would indicate if and how it can be done.  Is there any way it can be done and if so, how do I do it please[:D]  I am wanting to make a full back up of all emails to a USB data stick.  Any help greatly received

     Many thanks in advance

  9. Hi

Just to throw more confusion here, I have just registered gites as an enterprise individuelle and selected micro bic tax regime.  I was led to believe (at the impots) the tax professionel for the gites would replace the habitation tax, is this not correct?? And if not, what % is paid for the tax??  Or is the tax professionell just for gites registered with Gites de France (I ask because it is listed in the questionaire to apply the rating)  If anyone has any info of forums etc that may shed a little more light on this it would be greatly appreciated[:D]

    Many thanks

  10. Thanks everyone, thought as much about using the Embassy!  It would seem that everyone is tightening their security, when I last looked at the Embassy site for renewal, you could send a copy of your passport and then take your old one and collect the new one in person at your nearest consulate, but this is no longer available[:(]  Thanks again

  11. Hi everyone

Sorry if this has been covered before but............is it possible to make a postal application direct to the UK office for a passport renewal when you live in France???  The reason I ask is according to the Embassy site, they send your application to the UK for processing (unless I have read it wrong) and then return it to you via the Embassy, this costs 176 euro, however, an application in person in the UK via appointment cost justs £72, or a postal application if applicable would be £48!!!  Has anyone out there renewed their passport direct via post to the UK or am I stuck with the Embassy in Paris??? Any advice greatly appreciated[:)]

  13. Hi everyone

    Heres my hedgehog tale!!

We had a big fat hedgehog in our garden for ages so we trawled the net and found some plans to make a hedgehog house as the weather was turning chilly.  Hubby built the house and covered it with a waterproof membrane, put air vents in, added little legs to raise it and we placed it amongst the shrubs in the right direction and weighed it down as instructed on the plans.  My friend gave me some hay and we waited for him to take up residence.  Hubby found him under a peice of wood, so we put him in the house and left him be.  Sadly two days later he was out and about at night and got run over on the road just outside our house, he was on his way back.  So now we have a hedgehog house and no hedgehog!!  My question is, will another come along and take up residence or will that be it??  Do we need to change the hay to change the scent or just leave it where it is and wait.  Seems a shame to waste such a fab house!!  I check it every other day to see if there are any new residents, but none yet.  Any advice greatly received!!
