  1. Many thanks Lou, they say it will be a contract between the agency and myself for the commission and I will be independant as an 'auto entrepeneur'  The agency says they will apply for permits etc to allow me to work as an agent from the prefecture.  I will have a good look at the pole emploi site before I speak with them again, thanks again
  2. Hi, quick question if one exists!!!

Does anyone know if it would be possible to cancel the Orange (previouslty FT) fixed line contract when we move (don't want another) and temporarily suspend the internet account for about 4mths whilst relocating to new property and keep my email active please??? (will be in temp accommodation without phone/int access)  I have tried to find info on their website, but with no luck.  I will go and see the peeps at the Orange shop in the interim, but last time I saw them  had horrendous problems!  As always, any help, advice and links greatly appreciated, cheers and thanks.

  3. Hi everyone

I have been approached by a French estate agency with an 'offer' of becoming an agent commmercial to sell properties.  Does anyone know of any links/forums that I could view to try and find information on the legalities/registration process etc.  Or if anyone already is or has experience of being an agent and can point me in the right direction for info, it would be much appreciated, thanks in advance as always for any replies

  4. Hi all, didn't know where to put this, so trying here!  Having had a search on the forum, looked at La Poste and Google I cannot find if there is a service similar to the p.o. box system in the UK.  The reason I ask is, it looks like we have sold our property and it is our intention to rent a gite for a month or so until we find another property.  During this time, we need a p.o. box for forwarding the post to. Hope someone can help!  Many thanks in advance for any advice/help cheers

  5. Hi, we are a couple resident in France and we are in the process of selling our property (fingers crossed!!). We are looking for a small property (1 or 2 beds) with storage for our bits n bobs for about 4 months whilst making the all important decisions of what to do!.  A gite or similar over the winter period November to March would be ideal and the preferred locations would be within a 20km radious Cozes in the Charente Maritime, please contact via email/pm with info, many thanks
  6. Hi all, many thanks for the replies so far.  Just to clarify, we are married, French residents and my partner works for a French company so fully 'in the system'  Will have a look at cpam site to see what they say, thanks again
  7. Hi all, don't know if this is where to post, but here goes.  I have heard or read somewhere that partners can 'piggy-back' onto the carte vital of their partner for medical cover.  If all goes to plan, I will be closing my micro bic in the none to distant future and will no longer be paying into the RSI so I am putting feelers out for info/planning.  Does anyone know of the poceedure please, or if anyone can point me in the general direction for info it would be much appreciated.  Many thanks in advance
  8. Hi Everyone, we are thinking of spending New Yr in Paris but as it will be our first visit, where would be best to get a hotel/b&b/studio etc.  There are hundreds on the web so thought  would ask the forum members for any advice or recommendations!!!!!  would prefer walking distance or bus (not keen on metro!) for attactions etc and good value for money, many thanks in advance for any replies
  9. Hi, I don't know if it will help or if it savailable in France, but  when we lived in the UK, we  had two very scared dogs when it came to thunder and fireworks etc. The vets in bighty sold us a 'plug in' product that gave off the same pheramones that a lactating dog produces when feeding her pups.  It was said to give a 'calming' effect and for our two, it worked.  Might be worth a vsit to the vet or check on line, saves all the distress and panting of the dog. hope it helps!
  10. Many thanks for your quick reply Guardian, I shall copy it and use to cancel with................ axa! Quite uncanny that it is the same insurer, as an aside, did you have any problems cancelling the prelevement, just curious as the last time I cancelled one (for something else), I had to sign a declaration and answer loads of questions with my bank, which I thought was rather odd and nosey!!
  11. Hi, sorry if this has been 'done to death', but I can't seem to find an answer to my question.  I am tying to find out if there is a standard  letter that can be used to cancel a top up insurance cover with a French insurer please.  I think I probably need to give two months notice before renewal, but I can't find any info on cancellation on my insureres website and they haven't replied to an email request for info.  So thought I would send a recorded delivery letter then cancel the prelevement.  If anyone has a standard letter or knows of a link, it would be much appreciated, many thanks in advance
  12. Thank you for all replies, especially the positive ones.  I am at a loss as to why, when posting what I thought was an innocent experience for a 'heads up' (similar to last posting) I find some postings to be less useful ?   Maybe its me being a bit sensitive or normal forum attitudes, don't know, but heigh ho, who cares, lifes too short!
