My family and I bought our house in May this year and moved in in July. We have children at the local school, so therefore pay the Tresury dept for the school meals (which I hasten to add are very good value and sound very tasty) we also pay a bill for the refuse collection, May-Dec 133.00 Euros. However, we have not received a Fonciere or habitation tax bill (excuse my spelling). Our house had been empty for 5 years prior to us buying it and then the previous owners were in the maison retratit (old folks home). I have heard you do not get a bill until after 1 years residence in your property. Can anyone shed any light on this?

Hello
I live near Parthenay in dept 79 and I have a friend whos has just bought a house near Loudun, which is close to Saumur in dept 49. They are looking to have some electrical works carried out. If you know of anyone in this area and can recommend them, please can you pass on their details to me.
Many thanks

Just remembered the Fourth, the wine definately helps. The time the posts are made. Has this site always been on GMT or am I missing something. Maybe I've had a glass too many?

A couple of things. Firstly, I don't mean to be stupid but I can't find the spellcheck buttttoooooon on this reply page.
Secondly, Some of my posts have come up with annonymous as the author. Hope i've spelt that right.
Thirdly, Can't find button with 'since last visit' not that it ever appeared to work on the old format.
And I have just thought of a fourth, sorry. Its gone. Maybe when I've had another glass of wine I will remember.
On a positive note, I think its much kinder on the eye. Dotty (in case it says annomyyy, whatever)

Sorry I can't help with all of yourr questions and it does appear you are being given a bit of a hard time. I too did not pay a deposit until the day we signed. In fact our bank (credit agricole) paid the full amount of the mortgage into our account several days before we signed and our deposit was in our account too, so the whole amount was paid in one go.
It was nice seeing X amount of thousands of euros in ones account, if only for a brief time.
Another tax question, sorry
