  1. Whoever's partner you are, I think you are completely wrong! Why would I only have a problem with Onspeed and nothing else? You need to back that sort of answer up with knowledge - what could the problem be then?
  2. They have a new course going which is worth signing up for called How to communicate in French - it's only 60 Euros. They also have lots of other stuff going on as well.
  3. This new Limousin Expats Centre in Bussiere Poitevine just off the N147 is offering French Conversation at 3 Euros and a six-week course for Beginners at only 60 Euros with a qualified French teacher - I haven't found any better than that! The website is www.limousin-expats.com
  4. I have to say that I didn't notice any difference and I'm on Tiscali dialup - the only time I noticed a difference was that it stopped FrontPage working and when I asked why, no-one in their technical office could tell me! To give them their due, they refunded me but it was very disappointing. If you wnat to use Office components, don't use OnSpeed!
  5. I saw a notice in our local supermarket about the website www.limousin-expats.com went on there and then looked at the French Conversation page. There's loads going on at their Centre but I thought 3 Euros was a really good price - it's because it's an Association. Bussiere is just off the N147 between Poitiers and Limoges

  7. Actually, I've just signed up for French Conversation at Bussiere Poitevine at the Limousin Expats Centre www.limousin-expats.com and they are only 3 Euros each time. The Tuesday one is full now but they are taking names for a Thursday lesson.
  8. Hi there, there are loads on www.recherchez-vous.com
  9. Be careful because there are new regulations coming out about sand filters etc. Have you tried www.artisan-anglais.com? They have lots of people near to you who would provide a quote
  10. Try this page to find someone - it may help http://www.artisan-anglais.com/WOOD/woodpoitou.htm
  11. I've just added this to the recommendations page - try wwwartisan-anglais.com as they have loads of architects and the site says they all speak English
  12. I've just found a new site called Artisan Anglais - it's brilliant. It gives you details of all sorts of artisans, mainly English and the site guarantees (or tries!) that they are legal. This makes a pleasant change as we had loads of work done on our roof which now leaks again and guess what - English roofer is non-contactable! It turns out he was on a holiday from the UK and we thought he was legal but he wasn't. This site is www.artisan-anglais.com and it's worth a look - you can check siret numbers as well.
  13. The last person was asking about an architect but there's site mentioned on a links page I've seen somewhere - www.artisananglais.com, I think, where you could find an architect. I've already phoned a painter from there but you can check whether they are legal or not as well. Worth a try?
  14. Could anyone tell me if there is a website to check Siret numbers please? There must be one to check out whether someone is legal or not?
  15. We want to run 45 metres of electric cable above ground (40m along a wall and 5m aerially) to supply a gite from a barn electricity supply. This has been OKed by EDF in principle as long as we do it in one length but we want to run the cable ourselves as their quote is extortionate! In Mocoeur, the elctrical wholesalers, our limited French failed us when trying to discover the size of wire needed for an aerial supply so could anyone tell us what size wire to buy please? We prefer to buy from somewhere like Bricodepot where we won't be having to raise a mortgage to do it! Many thanks, all you electricians!
  16. There's a company called Wizzwoo advertising in French News but I don't know if they are OK. How come you don't use hermers.com then?
  17. This site that I've just heard about is worth going to - I had a friend in the next village with cancer and she would have used this site loads at the time. It's called Cancer Concerns Us and is on www.cancer-concerns.us and would be a good site to bookmark or make a note of as it's the sort of thing you forget and then can't find it when you need it. There no money involved either, which makes a change!

  19. I just checked out the Recherchez-Vous site www.recherchez-vous.com as mentioned by someone - why aren't people using it?
