"Growing Old is Inevitable - Growing up is Totally Optional"Says it all really....Simon :-)
If your last post was addressed to me, I'm afraid I'm a bit slow this morning. Perhaps you could explain what you mean?
Yes, it was addressed to you Saint Thibault. Happy to explain - quite simple really.....
Mondeoman came onto this ever-so-friendly forum for help and advice - not to be berrated for his actions - he's done that to himself!
Give me strength....
Simon :-)
-
Paul T - what a scary world you live in.
What if, what if, what if........
You weren't going faster, it wasn't a lot different and you didn't go into the barrier or another car!
It DIDN'T happen! Like it didn't happen for Mondeoman....
Simon :-)
PS don't have nightmares.....and don't you dare go more than 70mph or I'll have you reported and put into the stocks at the very least....
-
Yet another lesson and another one who's missed the point entirely! Quite amazing...Time I started to consider self flagellation.... Simon :-)

Well said JK - quite obviously sid has lost the plot and is desperately seeking some kind of tenuous validation.Poor desperate sidSimon :-)

Hi our bills are normally dated and sent the day after the readings.Never, ever paid for a normal meter reading visit - heck knows where that comes from !Simon :-)
-
Could somebody pass sid a bigger shovel please - he needs to dig an even bigger hole!Simon :-)
Simon thinks its possible so maybe he will volunteer ? I hope so because I like swapping books - although I can't help but think that Amazon may have this sewn up (oh no, not sewing again ! [;-)])
Hi RH - just picked this up - happy to volunteer but I think gardengirl / coops already did it?! Did it all work ok ?
It works fine for me but I'm pretty certain you need to have 'Kindle for PC' loaded for it to be effective. I just send the .azw file. Wouldn't like to 'guarantee' for everyone though - for fear of being put into the stocks by the forum saints! :-)
Simon :-)

Coops and JK - totally with you and your spot-on comments !

And then on the empty motorway a tyre suddenly bursts - could be bit of debris on the road and now the car is somersaulting through the air and the motorway is closed for a number of hours for the recovery of body and car and the investigations that take place.
But I see where you are coming from, it is Fords fault for building a car that can go at 140+ mph.
Perhaps you could stab someone and then blame the knife manufaturer because they made it sharp.
No tyre burst
No debris on the road
No car somersaulting through the air
No motorway was closed
No body was recovered
Nobody was stabbed
Mondeoman was caught speeding - not exactly a tsunami is it?
PaulT - you obviously watch far too much James Bond - more important things happening in the world! Get a grip......
Simon, AnOther is no different to anyone else on this forum, he has a right, within the rules, to express his opinion. If you don't like that opinion well tough, live with it. Its life. As regards the OP well a bit silly, as he has admitted. Everyone should know the 50kph rule. . .
Bugsy do put your handbag down you might fall off your bike!
So AnOther has the right to express his 'sanctimonious' opinion - so long as noone else expresses theirs eh? That seems fair - but then it would if your used to walking on water unchallenged.
Keep dry Bugsy :-)
Simon :-)
-
AnOther - you've made your point now do be careful walking on all that water - you might sink.Simon :-)
-
Stunning JK - completely stunning.
-
AnOther - you never been naughty then ?? Guess not.Who on earth do you think you are?Simon :-)
-
You know what Rose - I did too - I changed it back about 3 mins ago so hopefully it will update :-)Simon-come-lately-the-Kindle-lover

Best to identify solutions rather than problems eh? Cup half full and all that......Simon :-)

MondeoMan - here's a link to the fine / points for speeding. As BJSLIV says - you're looking at a 1500€ fine. The French authorities can't do anything to your UK licence - i.e they can't apply points or suspend it or ban you. If they even record the details of your licence / plates I'd be amazed! They just want the cash!

JK - if you're not canonised in your own lifetime then there's no justice in this world ! :-)Simon :-)
-
RH - good point well made and thanks for that - there are times I feel well and truly beaten up on here so that's cheered me up no end.Simon :-)
-
JK - point of order - all Kindle's are Wifi. I was extolling the virtues of the Wifi / 3G model which also operates on mobile phone networks. Superb for us mountain folk without the luxury of WiFi. Although - that's probably the reason mine works so well :-). Furthermore I access the internet via a 3G+ dongle so maybe that explains why I have no issues.Anyway - I'm genuinely pleased that Cathy has resolved her Kindle problems.Simon :-)
-
JK - you are doing a great job of informing potential expat customers of the experiences of others. All I'm doing is informing of my experience which is a wholly positive one - that is my sole point of reference. Apart from the thousands of other non-UK based users I know of course. :-)Crikey I had to look up 'Cognitive Dissonance' - sounds quite nasty:Cognitive Dissonance is the feeling of uncomfortable tension which comes from holding two conflicting thoughts in the mind at the same time.Simon :-) the Kindle Lover
-
Sanctimonious - that's a new one!Lots of others have had problems have they - well I guess there are 2 on this forum - Cathy and JK. Can't think of any others. As for catering for the lowest common denominator - that made me laugh more than 'sanctimonious'!Anyway - it was an absolute pleasure to bring the Kindle to your attention CeeJay!Happy reading.Sanctimonious-Simon
-
CeeJay - here we go again....I have an Amazon .co.uk account, I live in France (with a French address!) and pay with a French card - never had any problems downloading to my Kindle or PC. Just like thousands of others. Simon :-)
-
RH - if you buy the books on-line (i.e. via your PC) - you are given the option of where you want to download to - your Kindle (either wirelessly or via the USB cable provided) or direct to your PC's hard drive (or any other drive attached (e.g. data stick etc).Easy peasySimon :-)
