  1. Hi all! Have received my Avis d'impot for year 2012 but can anyone tell me why the total payable is about 37% more this year than it was last year for 2011? Our gross income for both periods was roughly the same ie just our old age and private pensions and uk rental income (which is under the uk tax threshold and hasn't changed either). There is no mention on the avis of social charges being levied. What has changed? Surely M Hollande has not raised taxes by a whopping 37%   - Ouch!! rropo
  2. Chancer! You have hit the nail on the head....exactement!
  3. Many thanks EuroTrash! The situation is very complicated! We are dealing with a highly educated, intelligent person who, despite Autism and  after a long period in a managerial position - got stressed out, resigned and now has issues with society as we understand it! No she has no healthcare provision and has ignored our request that she should at least get an E121. We will try again to get her to fill in a Tax form but I have my doubts!
  4. A daughter aged 50 has decided to come to France and live with us for the foreseeable future. She has no income and no job and will probably never work again as we now understand she is Autistic and unable to hold down normal employment. Unknown to us, she apparently had a medical diagnosis of Autism some years ago but has no documentation or certificates to support this. The situation is complicated by the fact that she is unable or unwilling to seek assistance either back in Uk or here in France, however, as she is family, we obviously ensure she has the very basic necessities for living ! My queries are: (1) As we are unable to claim any financial assistance - can we include her in our impots declaration so that at least we can get some reduction in the taxes we pay re Impot/Fonciere/Habitation  (2) Does she have to register with the Impots that she is indeed now a permanent resident in France?
  5. I am in the process of thinking about installing electric heating as no other type would really be practicable for our house. Has anybody any experience of getting EDF supply upgraded to cater for increased load? Cost if any? Notice required? I believe there is also a means whereby the radiators can be switched on/off sequentially thus reducing the electrical load at any one time and especially when oher domestic electrial items are being concurrently used?
