1. I've a TomTom 710 which gives audible warning when exceeding the limit. It also red-lines on the display. Problem is, the limits on stretches of road vary from time to time and the TT can't always keep up. The displayed limit isn't always current...

I've been happy with SimplyMEPIS for about four years now. It does what it says, and the support forums are excellent.

Whichever flavour of Linux you get eventually, try a few from a LiveCD, and read what you can. But you won't go back to Windoze.

  3. If you do a Google search on bad recipient address syntax, you'll get a number of forums discussing this very issue.

E.g. it may or may not be necessary to have the email address in brackets e.g. <[email protected]>

Sent to too many recipients at once, malformed address book, commas/full stops/erroneous white space etc. ISP error. Have you contacted your ISP to see if there's a server error at their end?

Looking through some of the forums there's quite a list of things it could be...

Hope you get a speedy resolution - damned annoying when one can't.

  4.
I have recently bought a house in the Haute Vienne and need advise on how to fell a rather large conifer at the back of the house. Its approx 45ft tall and rather close to the back of the house. Does anyone know of a tree feller in this region.
Just be careful about the prices people want to charge. A Brit guy I know wanted €200+ to fell a 50' conifer. The local woodman took it down in minutes with a chainsaw and tractor, cut it into logs for stacking, and was gone in the hour.

How much? €40. And I keep the wood.

    It's worth asking around.

  5.
... yesterday citroen garage put innew master at cost of 400+euro!!!!!!!!!
Why are you surprised at the cost? You did ask for an estimate/devi first?

I must say that our little local Citroen garage bends over backwards to help, and charges far less than I ever imagined.

  6. Do you mean paint as in gloss type paint, and emulsion as in water soluble? Are you talking colours or translucent wood hues?

Unless you're thinking of conventional paint type paint, then I think you mean lasure. Water soluble and microporous in various wood shades.
    Good stuff.

  7. The top of our T is female. That way, creosote and the like runs inside the joint, and there's no risk of runny deposits on the outside.

No, it doesn't leak smoke, either (which appears to be the prime consideration when orientating the pipes). This seems to be a perennial argument about the orientation of flue pipes. Creosote and other runny stuff will readily find a way out, whereas smoke won't.

  8. "Spitbank Fort reportedly cost nearly £120,000 to construct between

1861 and 1878 and was one of Palmerston's 'Follies', a series of land

and sea-based forts designed to repel French warships," said auctioneer

    Rob Marchant.

No mention of Napoleonic wars. Has someone been editing? LOL.
