1. Thank you PPP. However, I'm still not sure. It sounds to me that it applies to French resident in regards to a French bank that is perhaps domiciled elsewhere?

CCSO is a French domiciled bank as far as I'm aware but not sure if being a UK resident would give us the same protection if it goes under?
2.
A quick reply from "the authority on the subject" AB I'm stepping in  to advise you not to commit suicide just yet, as the figure is currently € 100,000 but there are conditions, citizenship or residency for example.
Does that mean that second homeowners that have some money in a French bank have no protection?
3. When we looked into it we were told as long as no money exchanges hands there wouldn't be a problem, so we have had the same farmer take the hay for years now.

Having said that, from what I understand, allowing a farmer to plant crops or put animals on the field is a totally different matter and could potentially easily allow the farmer to gain rights to your land but just taking hay is a different matter. It may be worth looking into though because it has been a few years ago when we received this information and perhaps each dept has different rules. We are located in Dordogne.

4. That makes sense, thank you. I agree about the resin coloured types of products on the market. He assured me this wasn't it. He said it is clear mat and referred to it as hydrofuge. Just sounds ridiculously expensive compared to the Thompson product you showed.

I didn't think about it when I asked you but the Thompson product is probably similar to the French Sika product. In fact, I bought some from the local brico, 5 litres for about €35 and haven't used it yet for a solid gravelled area. I mentioned this to him and he said what he has is professional and is very expensive. So not sure if there really is a difference and if it is worth €600.

5. Hi John thank you. That certainly is a lot less expensive than the €600 he claims the one here costs! [blink]

I wonder why it doesn't say it can be used on roof tiles though. I will be going back to the UK soon and now think I would like to have this done before I leave and the winter weather so perhaps there is something similar in France. I hadn't received any response so was thinking about telling him to go ahead and do it but now I am not so sure about his generous offer. Thanks again.

6. I have asked this elsewhere but was hoping someone here may have experience or an opinion on using a hydrofuge (waterproof) treatment on clay roof tiles. We have a roof that was done 2 1/2 years ago with reclaimed tiles. Some of the tiles weren't very good quality and the roofer has just come out to replace them, paid by us of course. [:(] He is saying that there shouldn't be further problems but if I want insurance he will spray with a professional clear mat hydrofuge. By the way before anyone asks he didn't supply the tiles, he just fitted them.

He said he won't charge for labour but the cost is still €600 so not sure if it would really be a good idea or not. I can't seem to find much on the internet other that the thick coloured paint sealant coat stuff. Not much at all about clear water sealants.  Any advice would be most appreciated as usual. [:)]

7. Am I the only one or does 150 meters to shoot guns sound very close?! Dangerously close!

Sunday, it was happening here, I am sure it was within the 150 rule because there were quite a few of them but it was scary as hell. This is a backward dangerous law. It should be much further that in my opinion.

I wonder what the distance is for a grenade, perhaps a visit to a few of the local chase is in order.[Www]

8. Thanks to John's thread I just caught it on +1 [:)].

It appears to me that estate agents in the SW from different areas pulled together and put on a commercial or infomercial to lure British buyers back into the market. The date at the end of the credits does show 2011 so it appears to be current. I say good on them for getting it put on but I would suspect it won't help too much with the state of the pound.

In regards to the single man, shame, in five years time he will look a lot older and of course a lot poorer. Silly man should have gone for the renovated one for an easy life. [:D]

9. It is sad that perhaps such a mistake was made listening to this woman. But a man in his position should be ashamed to have even consensually have sex with an immigrant hotel housekeeper in a foreign country. Not a very wise man in my opinion. Very hard to have respect for any man that would behave like this but particularly a so called leader.
10. Merlin, I know this sounds ridiculous coming from someone with such limited experience with dogs, I only have my one little one! I know the chances of this being the same problem with Pip are minute but after reading how he is acting I couldn't help but tell you what I have experienced  for months until a few days ago. We are elated because it was breaking mine and my husbands heart to see him like that.

It just sounds very similar to what my little dog did. (Sorry if I am being too descriptive!) But I noticed before the first Drontal,1/4 of the tablet (the vet saw a few as well) that he had a few tiny white worms on the fur on his backside. But I never saw any in his stool and after the first tablet never saw anymore on his backside,  nor did I ever see any at all in his stool after this as well which I find strange, but he continued to behave in a very stressed manner until a few says ago less than a week after his second tablet.

As I said I am sure it is totally different with Pip and do hope he recovers, if not he is very lucky someone as wonderful as you and your husband cares for him at the end of his days.

11. Merlin, thank you for your comments and your wishes for my little old man.[:)] I also just wanted to add because I forgot to say that it has taken over a month after giving our dog the first Drontal and the second one last week before we started noticing an improvement in his behaviour. It has only been a few days since his improvement.
12. Merlin, thank you so much for the update. I am sure this is such a long shot but perhaps worth mentioning, my little dog is 13 and he suddenly started showing very strange (similar) behaviour. I normally have to go back and forth very often from UK to France and because of this haven't had the need to give my dog worming tablets because this is necessary for his passport. But I had to keep extending my last stay in France and my poor dog developed worms. [:(]  I am now sure it was the worms because he suddenly became very frightened of certain noises and could never appear to relax always showing signs of stress and jumpiness, scratching, hiding and running out of the room etc..

The vet gave him the worming tablet and said to give him another dose in one month which I did and his behaviour is almost back to normal. we initially though he was showing signs of dementia so are very happy that wasn't the case. Having said that he is showing signs that his hearing and sight isn't as good but we  seem to have him back now that the worms have been treated.

I will keep my fingers crossed for little Pip, it must be very upsetting for you. thank you again for keeping us updated.

13. Speaking of roses. [:)] Just now right outside my front door a beautiful small deer was standing there eating mine! They have never been so bold to come right up to the house like that. The doors were open and I had the radio on. I stood there just within about ten feet watching it until it saw me and left. I assume they are looking for something with moisture. It has been extremely dry here so perhaps the poor thing was really trying to be brave to try to find something with moisture in it?

By the way Bugsy, beautiful rose. [:)]
