Hi Guys, I live about 30mins west of Gap and am trying to fing a 16kw woodburner to be up and running ready for next winter.  We've had a look around Gap with no success, does anyone know of a large woodburner outlet within an hour or so of Gap / Veynes?  Thanks.   Andy W

I have just completed the purchase of a house in La Faurie (05). I have my bank account, mortgage, and property insurance with CA as it was extremely easy to set up and my French is not currently up to shopping around. CA Britline, with English speaking employees, were most helpful and responded to any queries efficiently and comprehensively. The money transfers from UK to France and from the bank to the Notaire all went without a hitch. They do, however, appear to be quite pricey and I'll be looking around once my language skills have developed a bit! They allow accounts to be opened without having a property in France, you have to provide proof of recent visits - travel documents, credit card bills etc etc.

My family and I have recently bought a habitable farmhouse in Hautes-Alpes with a barn attached that requires renovation. We will be in the area from 11-21 August and would like to draw on the experiences of others in the area who have successfully completed or are well on the way to completing a similar project. If anyone is around over the above period and does not mind giving us the benfit of their advice over a glass of wine or two please let me know. Many thanks.

I have just bought a place near Aspres-sur-Buech and am spending a week getting it cleaned and sorted out in August before my wife and children come out. HIFX offer a service where you buy the currency for the whole year in one transaction, at one rate, and then pay for it monthly over ten months. You have to provide the first and last month's payments (effectively months 1 and 12 to ensure bank delays etc are catered for.

Although I'm fairly new to the funds transfer game, I have found HIFX to be extremely efficient with only a minimal time lapse between the request for transfer and credit to CA. Would recommend them wholeheartedly to anyone.
