  1. I am thinking of buying an EyeTV 300 (FireWire, DVB-S) made by a german firm called Elgato. It fits between my Mac and the satellite dish, and enables me to record programmes onto the hard disk of my Mac. Also it seems to enable me to set up time-shift recordings via some software and a web page, abit like TIVO. More info can be found here- http://www.elgato.com/index.php?file=products_eyetv310 The thing is I can't find out which satellites offer the free to air stuff in a standard that the EyeTV will work with. I am looking for English & French channels. The satellite dish requirements are - "Satellite dish with digital or universal LNB (not included). EyeTV 310 supports the DISEqC 1.0 and MiniDISEqC (Tone Burst) protocols and can control up to 4 LNBs." Anyone any ideas? I don't want to shell out 350 and then find I only have access to BBC World. Also I live in Finistere (29) so if anyone can reccomend a satellite dish installer, I would be grateful.
  2. I am hopefully moving to Plouescat (halfway between Brest & Morlaix) in the next few weeks and need to hire some storage space. A garage size would be fine. I anticipate needing it for about 6 months. Any info appreciated - [email protected]
  3. I agree Val. My relatives used to fly glasgow~stansted then stansted~brest all with Ryanair. Now, I think it will be easier to fly glasgow~paris CDG, then TGV to Morlaix. It is a real pity that there are now no cheap airlines flying out of Brest. Brest~Paris seems to cost the earth.
  4. We are looking for a nursing job for my wife in the Finisterre (29) region of Brittany, where we own an apartment. She is very well qualified and about to undertake intensive French classes. I am looking for an IT related post - my main expertise is in Apple Macs, Wireless networks, all things quicktime and DTP. My french is intermediate, but I am also going to undertake an intensive course. We are both qualified teachers, and I have undertaken a year long TEFL course Any adv ice on likelihood of finding a vacancy, salary levels etc... much appreciated.
  5. Can anyone recommend a cheap internet provider in France? I installed the wanadoo software into my mac, but it created all sorts of old files that messed the system up. All I need is a telephone number, account name and password and I can then put all the rest in myself. In the UK I can register with a number of providers online; are there any French ISPs who offer a similar service? Also - the best place to buy a modem to telephone socket cable, or UK to France adaptor?
