  1. coco, you probably have a combination boiler which heats the hot water instantaniously, just like the old gas sink heaters we used to have, but it does the central heating aswell.
  2. HI EVERYONE, we are moving to les mottes in the summer and cant wait! we are due to come out to sort out paperwork etc for a few days 11th -15th may. one of our main aims during our visit is to take our 2 boys to look at the local schools ready for them to start the new term in september, they are aged 14 and 10. we have written to Groupe Scolaire Robert Bonnaud in Fontenay and Ecole primaire publique in st Hermine for our 10 year old and college Francois Viete Fontaney and College d'Anglee St hermine for our 14 year old. As yet we still haven't had any return correspondance. HELP does any one know anything about any of the schools mentioned or could advise us about how to sort out schooling. Better still does anyone have any children similar ages to ours living near to les mottes that we could make contact with?
  3.  hi everyone, i've been searching the archives but can't find anything relating to health care for children! we are just beginning to understand about all the top ups etc for us adults but how do we go on with the kids? we have two boys aged 14 and 10 and will be moving to the vendee (85) in around july/august this year. are they covered for free like in the uk or do we have to provide insurance for them aswell?? any help will be greatly appreciated!!
  4. hey guys and gals, seems i've touched on a touchy subject as far as prices go!!! boghound, could you tell me what you mean by heat pumps, is this the type of of heating where you use the earth's natural heat source??
  5.  hi everyone, i'm the new boy in town so please excuse me if my behaviour is not up to scratch!! my family and i are planning to move to the vendee region in the summer months this year and i will hopefully be planning to work ( i know, but some of us have to!) i'm currently employed in the UK as an engineer for British Gas with full qualifications including LPG domestic maintenance.i am also very competent at electrical wiring and general household renovations but have no qualifications in these. i've been told that there is plenty of work for plumbers, especially English plumbers as these tend to be looked on as a novelty??!! is there anyone who has become a plumber in France after leaving the UK or knows how easy it would be to become self employed as an arisan? any advice would be greatly appreciated adam.
  6. that's a shame 'cos it spells my daughter's name, but hey she could always change her name to match my new plate!! i'll be in big trouble if she reads this!!  thanks for the info adam.
