Hi All, been reading about French Capital Gains Tax and am I right in thinking that as long as it is your only property and that you live in it and pay french taxes there is NO CGT to pay even after only 1 year for example?? We are thinking of moving and buying a house possibly spending a year updating and inproving a house to make sure we actually like living the french dream before setting up a business.  My only worry is that if we decide not to stay and want to come back to the uk would we have lots of tax to pay, (thats presuming we actually make a profit on the house of course!!)  

Looking for a fishing lake minimum of 6 acres.  Must have planning permission for a building or include some property either renovated or in need of renovation. Anything considered. Within the following areas Loire, Indre, Central, Vendee, Vienne, Deux Sevres, Charente or Dordogne, Limousin or Thereabouts.  If anyone knows of anything would be most grateful of the info. Hi, I am planning to travel to france in a couple of weeks and have just realised that my childs passport expires in August. Someone has told me that the passport has to be valid for 3 months after date of travel.. Is this correct because I don't think I have time to get him a new one and it will only be valid for 2 months????? Please help - I rang the passpost office buit they said they cannot offer information on other countries legistations????? cheers Tina.

Hi all, Thinking of visiting charente maritime region near saintes begining of June. Was wondering if any one had experience of the weather that time of year??? Any chance of sunny warm days??? Just wondering whether I should go to the bother of finding accomodation with a pool or whether it would be a waste of time??
