  1. Forgot to say that the removal company I wrote about can sometimes do part loads!
  2. The removal company I used to bring my stuff from the Uk to Brittany were absolute gems and their quote was the best! They specialise in transporting household goods to France and Spain so are very experienced. It is so nice to recommend a company you can trust .. so if you would like details, please contact my by email.
  3. I had such good service from the removal company I used to bring my goods from the UK to Brittany that I would be really happy to recommend them to anyone who needs this service . Please contact me at my email address.
  4. I would just like to receive the basic BBC channels.  The house I am staying in for a few months already has a dish, but the digibox is analogue so will have to buy a digital one. I can get all the French channels at the moment. Where is the cheapest place to buy a digibox and would the satellite dish which is in place need lots of moving to a new location or just moving on its "axis"?  It is easily reachable. After all this, is there anyone living near Pontivy who has one of these satellite finders who would help me to find just the basic BBC channels?  I would invest in the pukka kit .. but will only be in this place until end of September.  Will leave any equipment I buy for the owners.  Happy to pay for your time.
  5. The Association Integation Kreiz Branch situated in Gouarec (22) was set up in order to help newcomers integrate into the French way of life.  They offer French lessons for all levels to help you integrate and make new friends.  New groups are starting regularly. They also help with citizen advice and hold conferences regarding the French administration system. They have an English library for the use of members and have outings and hold fund raising events.  For further details of French lessons or how to become a member of AIKB telephone 02 96 24 87 90 or email: [email protected]
  6. Could someone please tell me what information is put on a Dog Identity Disc in France. In England we are encouraged just to put just the owner's name on one side with the postcode and on the other side a contact telephone number. We are moving to a house which has loose boundaries, but within a village, so I think it will be necessary to get Sam a new identity disc in case he wanders off !!  Of course, he has his chip ..and suppose in time local people will get to know him !! See you all on the 6th June ... can't wait
  7. Can I bring my ceiling fans with me to use in France?  I have four of them !!!  Feels a bit like a "bit of India" here in Norfolk.  Seriously though, I need them for a medical condition .. the dreaded Lupus.. have to keep cool in the Summer and they are my mainstay. All the fans have integrated lights .... three of them one single light in the centre and the other has three spotlights.
  8. I am writing from the UK .  I have a Panasonic Telephone Fax machine.  Will I be able to use this in France?  If so, will I need some sort of adaptor?  Where would I buy this, please?  Can I buy it in the UK or order it on the internet? Same goes for digital phone. Although not strictly on the same products ... I will need to get several plug adaptors.  Is it better to buy them here? Thanks.
  9. Can you recommend a Bed and Breakfast place at Folkestone and Calais? Just something basic ... a watering hole to rest our wearly old heads between travelling. Thanks
  10. Just want to say a big thank you to Deb and Co. for this great piece of information.  Have already spoken to Darren... charming young man.  Also the Load -Up website is great.    If your goods are valuable you can justify the high cost of moving it over to France with a large removal company . but it becomes really difficult when your worldly goods are just useful and sentimental and only enough to fill a small van !!  The Buddah said to get rid of all your worldly goods ..and, boy was he right !!!
  11. I want to place a small Annuity with a French company.  My (frozen) pension is with Norwich Union but I do not want to have the Annuity arising from it when I take it out soon paid from the UK and pay British tax. I would prefer to pay French Tax on this and my other (meagre) assets.  Has anyone got an Annuity with a French Company for which they are receiving income?
