1. For those of you using I.E.9, on the menu bar click on 'Tools' and uncheck 'Compatibility View' to remove the white space above the actual forum.  The problem I am having is I can't use my mouse to place my curser where I want it, have to use the arrows on the keyboard.

Rubbish update on the forum software, the designer needs a kick up the preverbial.

  2. Hi,

As suggested put your 'Real' butter in the microwave on 'defrost' for a few seconds, any other setting usually ends up with liquid.

Count yourself luck that you can buy real butter, here in the UK it is fast becoming a rarity.  All supermarkets here sell tonnes of  spreadable butter which of course isn't butter, the manufacturers remove the butter fat and replace it with hydrogenated vegetable oil to soften the product.  Most UK supermarkets only sell about 3/4 choices of butter.

Also trivial are the number of products NOT sold here anymore i.e. Kellogs Country Store made in the UK but not sold here but stocked all over Europe.  Camay or Lux toilet soap I could go on.  I asked one of the local supermarked managers where all the products I normally bought had gone, the answer 'Unless we sell x million of units per week we take them off the shelves', this is a typical reason that the supermarkets are restricting choice.

  3. Sorry Kay but it appears you have downloaded a Trojan which uses bogus Anti-Virus warnings.  In the past two week I have had to clean 4 friends computers with the same problem.  It will disable your Anti-Virus programme, Regedit, system restore and any other methods that would normally use to remove it.  So far I have had some success downloading MalwareBytes using another computer, putting it onto a USB flash drive then installing it on the infected PC and running a scan.  Unfortunately the process can by long and involved identifying and removing all traces and you need to be savvy with the process.  Have you tried starting your computer in 'Safe Mode' and running System Restore?, this may work.
  4. You appear to have the Google Toolbar which has that icon, most likely downloaded it with another programme by accident (as most people seem to do) unfortunately they have an opt out not opt in for their toolbar when choosing to download from the net.

You can re-install the latest version of Google toolbar by clicking HERE then follow the instructions.

  5.
Thanks all! I am going on line shopping! Hurrah!]] PS if anyone could recommend me the best Viao I would be grateful! Need it to travel, so good battery life, not too heavy, preferably funky colour...
Hi,

Do Not buy one with the NVIDIA® GeForce® 8400M GT GPU Graphics.  They have had lots of problems with this chip.  I am just about to scrap a Vaio which is just out of warranty and although Sony knew the problem they extended the warranty in the U.S. but it doesn't apply in the U.K.  Needless to say I am replacing it with another make and model.

    Best of Luck

  6. Hi,

    Try starting in safe mode

  7. Turn the computer on or Restart the computer

  8. Start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Boot Options Menu appears. If you begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers display a   "keyboard error" message. To resolve this, restart the computer and try again.

  9. Ensure that the Safe mode option is selected (the top option)

  10. Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.
  11. Select system restore and restore back to a point before the problem started.  If this doesn't work then I am afraid Acer will need to sort your problem.

There are many reasons and options that may be causing this problem but all are to complicated to advise via this forum.  Sorry Cooperola.

    Regards

  12.
Sorry but what firmware are you looking for on the Orange site that you believe will solve this problem ?

There is no difference in the Livebox firmware for any OS, it doesn't care and how could it. Customers could be using anything from Linux or Mac OS, or any flavour of Windows, or all 3, and what you are infering is that they would need to flash the Livebox each time they switched !

Difficulties connecting to the Livebox have caused many to curse and despair but I think you are definitely barking up the wrong tree if you think the problem is some incompatibility of Win 7 64 bit with the Livebox. WiFi is WiFi and knows nothing of the operating system behind it and therefore all devices should work together regardless.

I think your friends first move should be to see if he can connect to someone elses system, preferrably one not using a Livebox.

I must have missed something in your reasoning Ernie.  If hardware manufacturers have had to release new drivers for their products to enable use with windows Vista and 7 64 bit systems surely this applies to adsl router wifi.  Also why do Orange say they will be releasing firmware updates for the livebox for use with 64 bit systems.  The laptop in question can see the router via wifi but cannot connect because the signal being sent is not compatible with 64 bit systems.

  13. Hi,

I have searched the archives but couldn't find an answer.

I have spent 5 hours connected to a friends laptop (logmein) trying to set up his wifi connection to his Orange livebox (Sagem mini).  He can connect via ethernet cable hence me using logmein, but not wifi.  Having searched the Orange website I can only find firmware update for 32 bit windows 7 not 64 bit.  Does anyone have an Orange Livebox that will connect wifi using the 64 bit system?, if so what make of livebox are you using.

I advised my friend to contact Orange and tell them he has two new computers running Windows 7 64bit and they are not compatible with his present livebox wifi setup.

    Any advice much appreciated.

  14.

Do a search for a *.psd file. That will be your outlook emails. Also there may be an archive file as well.
I don't think so.... .psd files are Photoshop image files.

I think Outlook Express files are .dbx

I think Mr Coeur de Lion means .pst files (MS Outlook backup) However the OP is using Outlook Express not Outlook.
