I wondered whether you had got sorted out yet with a place yet? My wife and I are buying our place in South Burgundy about 15km from Cluny, at the end of October but might not be able to move across until next year some time. After many years of looking and thinking about buying we have finally done it! Have paid deposit on a renovated farmhouse near Trambly. Hope to gain full ownership in late October and then move out to Saone et Loire in Spring 2004. Feeling great about it but any tips from fellow locals would be appreciated. Of interest are: 1. Good French language learning schools 2. Any recommendations for pool companies and tips. 3. Good dealers/installers for parquet (read solid wood) oak flooring. My wife, Lesley and I are in our 30's. I will continue to work in my present job which is international and my wife will strive to get work whilst learning French (big challenge I know). Looking forward to any replies. Mark

My thoughts exactly! I am just wondering how far the UK sterling will slip. As someone wishing to buy in France in the next 6-12 months I am more than concerned that my 300K estimate purchase will cost me 18,500 more than if I had bought at the start of the Euro last year! On another issue those retired UK expats must be feeling the cost in their pensions when converted to Euros. Any other forum readers have thoughts on this matter? Regards Mark
