Yuletide Felicitations to all.

Idun has said it all .. Many thanks for all your hard work Hoddy .. we really do appreciate you tackling, on our behalf, all these internet 'interlopers' who try to confound us with their exaggerated claims for copy passports; ideal, affordable this or that .. none of which we want.

According to a quick conversion .. you owe him approx 358€ .. but I would hesitate at that as you have to go and get the €€ for him .. so I suggest 350€ as a fair rate ?.

wooly said : I have no brief for the accountant but remember it is the end of the French financial year on 31st Dec so their busiest period. And you are entirely right .. in all the upset and confusion I am presently living in I had completely forgotten that.So I have edited my post to the OP to reflect this.

Elle Gee wrote : However the net amount of tax paid was still significantly higher than the accountant's estimate. The accountant now says she is too busy to query this further before January.I hesitate to answer you as you are a newbie.. but what I would say to someone I knew on here would be .. have you thought about changing your accountant as, in my view, with an attitude like that, your accountant is only partially on your side .. which is not the service that you are paying them for.Edit : I retract my statement .. as having read Wooly's post below .. I think he is much more likely to be right then I am.

nomoss wrote : Some private calls, including from a neighbour who has now moved away, come from numbers with 09 prefixes.Maybe made via Skype? I never thought to ask him.Not necessarily : some 'expat' telephone/internet companies which tout for business here in France - hoping to rein in those who live here or who have second homes here, but who have limited knowledge of French so who are, perhaps, wary of signing up to a French telecom company. I had friends who were in this situation and had signed with such a company, at high cost, for a dreadfully poor service.Attempting to move them to Sosh proved awkward as the expat company refused to give up access to their line so Orange/Sosh said that they could take on the couple BUT they could only give them a 09 number. So that is what happened. Must add here that the couple were so pleased to be free of the high cost/ appalling service they had had previously that they could not care less what direct tel number they were given ☺

I thought it meant 'to be obsessed with' so .. in your example the person might have bought both pâtés as he/she is obsessed with pâté ?

Thank you once again .. it is v helpful to have the advice from someone whom has been there and done that already.OH and I were too young (?) for the first round of these EU enforced rebates a few years ago so this is our first attempt at trying to wrest a CSG rebate from the fisc.So far I have done everything by the book but Morbihan seems to be one of the depts dragging their heels .. As I am usually quite sympathetic to the powers-that-be in these situations .. perhaps it is because there are so many expats in 56 ? that their system is overloaded. But maybe I am wrong ?
-
Thanks for your helpful reply pomme .. I will send a secure message and see what they say. And will retain the address of the conciliator just in case of necessity.
-
Good for you pomme .. would you mind saying which dept you live in ?As here in Morbihan (56) we have heard nowt .. not a dicky bird. Hopefully they will sort us out soon.

Allianz will pay but I have to pay the excess (as expected).I am sure that the fact that the excess is almost exactly the same as the original bill is just a coincidence!-:)Ah ! Welcome to la belle France (imagine smiley winking face here)Edit : I must remember to use FF on here and not Chrome.

Morbihan has said we should (should) receive our reimbursement/s by 31/12/2019 .. I'll keep you informed as to progress.

Hey Mint .. did you not like my post ? Or is Solera not to your taste ?Mint wrote : Strange that you should mention Bien Manger. If you find out out who to contact then perhaps we could arrange a mass letter/email sending .. it's important to be more than a lone voice.

One of the things I admire most about French people is their ability to make their point in a straightforward manner without rancour and without demur .. So, in my view, a French person would not have politely waited but would have reminded said cantonnier pretty promptly that he needed to repair the damage he had caused, before further damage entailed due to inclement weather.

The person I feel most sorry for is the mother of the 15 year old girl who died. Losing any child is horrendous .. losing a child in such circumstances is beyond hideous. This mother has to live with this loss and, perhaps, the thought was any of this my fault ? Could I have done smthg differently ?

What warmer climes ? We have had a great day here with lots of sunshine, blue skies all day and a superb sunset over the sea with the last of the birds jostling for space on a sea-surrounded rock whilst quibbling with their neighbours over the last available place.

Has everyone on the forum left France and not told me ?Or is there another technical glitch ?No one has posted for two days .. is everyone OK ?
-
My OH swears by (not at ☺) Braun. They last a long time and, apparently, fulfill their role to perfection .. according to OH.

idun wrote: 123I have just pressed the space bar and it posted a blank post. the one two three is the only way I can often continue typing, so sorry about that. Anyone any ideas about computers who seem to suffer from this weird problem, please let me know.It sounds as though you've got your comp in 'overwrite' mode rather than insert mode.Do you have an 'insert' key on the top right of your keyboard ?If so then press it and it should swap back to normal.
