1. Dick - The thread to which you are referring was dealt with at the time. I have nothing further to add.

Deimos - I will email you.

The point is that discussions about the administration and running of the forum are not allowed. Why? Because there are a few members who seem post soley to 'flame' the administration of the forum. I have complaints by members about these posts.

2. In the dossier on disability in the May 2007 issue we have translated a 4-page document which must be sent to your nearest Commission Technique d’Orientation et de Reclassement Professionnel (COTOREP) in order to assess your level of disability.

This form will determine how much benefit (Allocation Aux Adultes Handicapés) you will receive and must be filled out in triplicate, most of it by your doctor.

The original form (in triplicate) is found by clicking this link:

4. Hi,

The free uploading of the advert means that we will upload your advert for you, the advert can be supplied by post or email...this service is free, other sites charge for this service.

Likewise some other sites allow only 4 photos, charge you for extra, a certain amount of wording, charge you for extra. We wanted to keep ours simple and not charge for all little extras.

We are certainly not 'one of the most highest charging of all the online websites', we checked out pricing...although I am aware that some websites do let you advertise for free...and there are alot of them that do require a reciprocal link back (and ones that DO charge). We are however part of a big company who's magazines are the largest selling in the France market as well as websites, exhibitions etc, and therefore have marketing power.

'Sorry, can't see anything there to entice me to advertise with you yet.'

That's fair enough, we've only just launched but are already planning upgraded systems later in the year. If you are getting good response from your current marketing that's good. [:)]

Perhaps I should offer say 5 forum users the opportunity to advertise on the site for a year for free....see how they get on.

5. Looking for a holiday?

We have recently launched a new website for France, Living France and French Property News:
http://www.france-rental.com
Book direct with owners of B&Bs, gîtes, cottages and small hotels in France.

Property owners:

Advertise with us.
Why we are different:

·  We will input your advert for FREE if you would prefer.
·  You can add a free link to your private website and you don't have to link back to us.
·  We're the exclusive holiday rentals website for France Magazine, Living France and French Property News and will be consistently marketed in these publications and websites, guaranteeing quality traffic and leads.
·  We don't charge commission on bookings - just a fee (£85+VAT per year) to advertise on the site.
·  You can upload your advert and up to 6 photos and change the details at any time.

6. Hi

LG/LG2 - I have sent you a new password for your LG2 account, so you can use that from now on.

Ron - Sounds like a PC settings that is not allowing you to move around the site without logging you off....My first thought would be cookie settings...add completefrance.com to your trusted sites and see if this makes a difference.

7. "All I want to see is an undertaking that they would not use photographs posted by forum members without permission."

Hi,

I can confirm that we would not take the images that appear on this forum (hotlinked) and use them without the members permission.

In fact to make it simple IF I did create a gallery on the site I will not move photos from the forum, I would let members upload to the gallery themselves and they would therefore know that they would be used there.

As readers will know, there have been regular pieces about this forum appearing in Living France - I don't know about France magazine, because I seldom see copies, but I get the impression that the forum does not have the same profile with them as it does at LF.

Those pieces include sample posts and replies, and I am pleased that several of my replies have been used in that way. I have also supplied material for the odd news item to Eleanor.
This is correct Will, there is a page on LF that promotes the forum and prints forum posts. France Magazine doesn't.
My concerns were more that the wording of the T&Cs appeared to offer Archant carte blanche to take a posting, which probably involved a fair bit of knowledge and research, and use it as a feature article without reference to the author - a very different situation from the above. That is something that I would certainly object to very strongly, and, moreover, I am certain that even if permitted to, the Living France team would not stoop so low. The same applies to photographs - and being in the 'engine room' of magazine publishing myself I can categorically state that pictures taken from web sites or galleries will not be usable in print at any degree of quality at anything more than a tiny fraction of its on-screen size - at least not without expensive and time-consuming digital enhancement techniques.
We wouldn't take a posting and create a 'feature article' about it. What we might do is look at the forum posting in order to spark new ideas for articles.
I think the T&C page is something cooked up by Archant's legal people to try to protect themselves against possible errors by editorial staff, or warn off spurious copyright challenges, rather than company policy. I'm pleased to see that others agree with my view that such conditions would be unlikely to stand up in an English court anyway.
You are correct, the T&C you have been refering to are Archant wide for all their websites.

10. As I said, we won't be using photos from the forum for the magazine. I did suggest an online gallery for member's photos but it was decided by members of the forum that a section devoted to photos would be easier and the photos can be discussed....which is what we have now. Quillan is correct, the images are not hosted on our servers they are 'hotlinked' from whatever server you put them to host.
