  3. Hi all We have started a new organic veg garden from our grass field. Our farmer neibour, ploughed the field for us and we have rotavated it about six times. Most of the land is now planted, potatoes, runner beans, french beans, beetroot, onions etc. We have planted lots of lettice seeds and some lettice plants that we purchased from the market three weeks ago. yesterday a couple of these plants wilted and when I dug them up there was a small white grub in the root. We have been to the garden centre today and identified the grub, but they only have non organic treatment for this pest. Can anyone help with an organic cure. Many thanks Beris
  4. Thank you Les for your help, I will go to Bricolage to investigate Many thanks Beris
  5. Can you help me locate a product please. We have stayed in a number of gites with plastic mesh roller shutter blinds in the bedroom, between the shutters and the window, which enabled her indoors to have the shutters and the bedroom widow open at night and keep out the nasties. Now we are living permanently in France and the good weather is here I have been trying to locate this product to DIY. without success. Can anyone help please, we are on the Aveyron, Lot border at Loupiac.
  6. Hi all, Perhaps you can shed some light onto the subject of E11, E106 etc, I am now totally confused with it all. The story so far.  We have completed on a property in the Aveyron (note Ron, at Loupiac) and intend to move completly on the 23 February (thats the date our renting agreement finishes) although we will be over from January 7th. I am 64 in March 06 and my wife is 62 in February 06, she recieves a UK pension £20per week. Because of the new system, I took advise from a forum member and applied for our new E11 European Health Insurance Card on line, great, it came within two days, the only thing was it asked the question would we be moving to France after this visit, I replyed yes, 23rd February, the card now has in expiry date of 23rd February. 06. Taking further advise from the forum, I have today writen to the International  Pension Centre telling them my wife will be moving permanently to France 23rd February and that she wishes me to be included under her pension benifts. Can you tell me what cover this will give us, do we have to apply for a E106. I also applied for a E11 for, our daughter, her husband and three year old grandaughter ( we have been living together for sixteen months, waiting for our purchase to go through, we will all live together in France) theirs also came back with an expiry date of 23rd Feb 06. They will not move till this date, so their card is no good at all. Sorry this subject may have been done to death, but I have tried and failed, HELP Beris
  7. Hi all, Some advice from the learned ones! We are in the process of purchasing a small farm property in Aveyron, habitable house, small house, large barn, small barn, we signed the first contract in July this year in which it stated that, and I quote,  the vendor declares that the property sold herein is served by an individual drainage system in working order and that it has not been checked by the authorised municipal services. Permissions were received this week for all the renovations we plan to carry out and a letter from our lawyer after she had been through the notaires completion paperwork before our signing.  In an item headed Drainage for the house:- the draft completion deed states that there is no mains drainage and nor is there an individual drainage system, she then goes on to say, This is not what was stated in the first contract-this said there was an individual drainage system. The house has a bathroom with hand basin, shower and toilet, were it goes I do not know. We submitted plans for a 7.500lt tank but was not intending to install until the middle of next year. as we were going to live in the house whilst carrying out the renovations to the other properties. Thoughts on the above please, before we sign and any ideas on temp toilets for a family of five, four adults. Many thanks Beris

It looks like buying a book. Best wishes Beris
  12. Hi, We have been dealing with victoria headdon of Headdon Consulting(www.headdonconsulting.com) she is based in the Gers. We have taken her all-inclusive buyers package. She has been great, translating the contracts and dealing with the DDE on our Planning applications. She has picked up a number of items that others have missed. We have every confidence in her. I hope this helps Beris
  13. We are looking for details on how to construct a natural swimming pond ( the water is cleaned by the plants in the planted area) no chemicals are needed. There are companies who carry out this work but are very expensive, we would like to do it ourselves.
