Yes I would agree about the A26 but it does have the benefit of having low traffic flows through the middle regions. I remember a couple of years ago having the pleasure of total traffic absence for 20 minutes on my side of the road heading on a Sunday to Calais......you try the M1 on a Sunday afternoon! But for real boredom the Belgian Motorways take some beating...... apart from there are plenty of coaches ( no tolls you see) hurtling to and from Central & Southern Europe.

Anyone recommend a site adjacent to Tunnel (Boulogne end)for tourers, short stay, ideally one that has been visited recently,previous information given via this forum site has been excellent but often dated.

Having failed in earlier efforts to find a year round 'static', in lieu of bricks and mortar, I plan to travel in my caravan throughout France this coming year seeking,as many before,something more permanent. However,like many 'static'sites the touring sites betwixt, say Calais, and the very South of France tend to close from mid-September till April or later. Would be grateful if anyone can advise of sites that are open, either private or municipal, to say South West France /Spanish Borders or Central areas ie Limousin, Auvergne or Burgundy. Can you assist please??

Seems as if you and I have same problem, only sites operated year round are those owned/managed by larger holiday site operators... I have enquiry elsewhere in forum seeking a 12 monthly base over very wide area, to buy or possibly rent...so if you have any joy let me know! shipbroker

For practical reasons we initially wish to start our French experience in a Mobile Home, ideally within a small site situation, i.e a single or few in farm or similar surroundings or perhaps a slightly larger 'holiday' environment. However, we would require 12 month access/ usage to fit in with current business and family obligations Apart from a couple of the larger UK Holiday Home Rental businesses we have been unable to locate any website or directory which could assist us in search.Areas of interest include Sth.Brittany / Vendee; Sth Loire; Limousin / Auvergne...could be others too.Any suggestions out there please?? Ideally to purchase but renting is an option.
