  1. We can often spend a good hour or so trying to find the cheapest ferry crossing. This involves putting in lots of different variations of dates, times and crossings. Then you forget which one was the cheapest so you have to start all over again!! Hopefully at the end of it you get a crossing for slightly less than you paid for your house!(Or not if you are going in the summer holidays!) You could always spend your lunch-break reading fascinating books on how to do up French houses as well. Bee
  2. Ours was 1209,00FF for a two bed house in Normandy if that is of any help to you! Bee
  3. We hired a van in June for 5 days to take over some furniture to our house. When I phoned all the different companies to get quotes none of them minded that we were going abroad but, of course, it is more expensive. It is definitely worth trying to haggle a bit - we got 5 days for the price of 4 from Budget, and we were able to pick up early and drop off late. I think it worked out about 55 a day, which is quite a lot. We were asked what was on board the van and the customs had a quick look inside but that was it. The only other thing is the mileage you are expected to do - we were given a limit on the number of miles, but we were only going to Normandy so this wasn't a problem. Bee
