  1. Hope someone out there is able to put me right!!  I find myself half way through doing something on the web, like for instance now!!!  and suddenly for no reason the screen freezes on me ie; my pointer will not move with my mouse directing it , nor am I able to work the pointer up to close the screen down, the only way to resolve the problem, is having to do a temp. switch off with my screen resetting as an unauthorised closing down.  Any body know what is going on ????

  2. Honestly !!!  We looked all over our local area even calling in at many large hotels to enquire if they had anything going on.  We looked in the local freebie but still nothing.  We approached our local hotel who in the past has always had a special night but stopped due to lack of support.   It would seem that they are all arranging meals for New Years Day, even the small restaurants but nothing on for the N.Y.E.   Our get together are some Brits and French, so it is not what you might think an English binge up

  3. You will find that most large towns will now be preparing for the build up to Christmas and will be organising their Christmas Markets ie; Montlucon  ( l'Allier ) Auvergne , have one that lasts for about two to three  weeks.  Clermont Ferrand ( Puy de Dome )  Has the largest in the Auvergne

    Merry Christmas

  4. Having just bought a new car, on arrival at our supermarket large car park, I noticed that there was quite a lot of mud splashed up on the side.   I'm not having that and thought " Mud flaps "  there are no mud flaps on the car.   On looking around the car park I noticed that the majority of French cars parked there also had NO MUD FLAPS  at least only 1 in about 40 had some on.   Is there a reason for this lack of protection.

  5. Le Club Anglais which meets in Montlucon three evenings per month is not what it seems.  The name is a misnomer, for the club was formed 28 years ago by the Chamber of Commerce Montlucon for French persons to meet and improve their use of the English language  through  conversation.  Up until 2 years ago it met only once for English conversation but with the increase in English membership they introduced a French conversation evening.  The Club meets at the London Bar in Montlucon ( 1st Friday each month for English )  ( 2nd Wednesday each month for French ) and (3rd Tuesday each month for English )  Meetings start 6 p.m. and go on for about 2 hours.  Originally the meetings were of value for their Conversation evenings but they have become so popular that members come for the fellowship .   There are 54 Members about 10 of whom are English.   There are also social gatherings throughout the year and we are about to have our annual typical English Christmas lunch on Saturday the 11th December at COURCAIS.

  6. Came back on site after being off for several months what with a virus and looking for a change, thought it would be nice to look up old friends but it's just the same old site , the new lay out hasn't improved readers going off track.  I asked a simple question for my granddaughter re how many Brits living in France and because the information coming back mentions some additional points within the original text detailed from, you all start digressing from the original point

  7. Under the old system on this site during the big upset between Sky and BBC etc there were several points of information on receiving digital satellite T/V and one point given was that you needed to have a minimum of 80 cm dish, which we have and we have no problems on all channels.  We have just started to receive ITV3  F.T.A. and the reception is good also.  We live in the centre of France just South of Montlucon l'Allier.
