1. Seems to that the retail motor trade have learnt very little. if anything of other retailers, regarding customer service. Given that people buy Mini's as a second or third car, it's no pain just to walk out of the showroom. Every shop here in France that i have visited ,the staff could no have been more helpful (and i'm sure that they are on simular wages) ,even for the smallest/cheapest off things.

  2. Went out yesterday to buy a new car. My wife would have liked a new Mini, so of to the local BMW garage, rude staff, no price info for the Cooper S. They keep us waiting 25 minutes, Then they just grunted that delivery time was 6 months plus. Service with a smile....not. Over a long lunch i talked my better half into looking at a Toyota, so full after a good meal popped in the there garage. They could not have been nicer. The salesman noticed that i had a rental car key ring and said i could rent from them a Yaris for 10 euros a day whilst our main car is in Spain having some mod's done and before our Toyota arrives. Knocked some money off the list price and through in matts, locking nuts and a roof rack. Now my wife gets a Yaris TS and with the extra dosh left over from the cost of a Mini, i get a quad bike.

I have had the same treatment from BMW staff in the U.K. Is this part of there european training i wonder? And 6 months waiting time? Only 3 weeks for the Yaris TS. Will not be visiting a BMW dealing every again.
  3.
Opas enquires:what does one call a baby sanglier?marcassin... sweet little stripy jobs, but take care not to get between mama and babes. Mama gets seriously annoyed.
hum baby suckling pig(hog). Not sure about nailing the trotters to the door though, and a house, not that far from us as a giant fibreglass one on the roof. only in france. still better than mauling foxes with dogs. what does fox meat taste like????

  4. I posted a few good links for solar engery sites a good few months ago, you may be able to find them in the achive, but i have sinse binned them. A couple of good books on the subject can be had on amazon. The Solar House and a book called something like eco build. I helped my parents do an eco conversion of a barn on there land in cornwall a couple of years ago but when you do your sums you may find a long pay back time regarding instulation costs versus mains power unless you can get a grant or are a long way from mains supply.

  5. I brought a new car here in France last year and mentioned i was looking at imports from belgium and they gave me 2000euros off the list price(30,000euro car) not a great saving but it paid for one years insurance.

  6.
Absolutely true, Val, apparently. I read that Harrods opened its Christmas hall in mid-August. M
Christmas comes but once a year...but now lasts for 4-5 months. Where i live in Aude it can get a little chilly in winter but last year it never dropped below 0c TG. Windows open from may till october for fresh air. Soon as the temp drops below 20c on go the the rads and petrole heater...hate the cold and dressing for it. Only good thing about the cold weather is that i use less fuel in the car running the aircon.

  7. Yes thanks, Well i make enough to live on. Spread betting is just an natural extension of the 'normal' market place, just speculation on shifts/movements in trading( yes there is a difference) if betting on the markets. Tax laws in France make it better to set-up an offshore account to limit capital gains and income tax. I mainly trade shares, but the advantage with spread betting is that you can bet on negative market movements and not only currency/oil arbitage. Even holding minimum bills can be in the million region so spread betting lets you play the markets with a much smaller investment. BUT your loss is tied to the market movement so bet within a narrow margin to limit loss( and profit). When i came down i done a year at LSE so have a little back ground but still find i have some big losses. Never stake more than 10% of your total CASH capital on any one speculation and 5% would be even better. THERE IS NEVER A SURE THING. Beware of false profits(people), if they knew there stuff they would be making money on the markets and no teaching people to mke money. THOSE WHO CAN, DO. THOSE WHO CAN'T TEACH.

Imagine a doctor with the same attitude...cancer, bloody hell man, have you not read the newspaper's, seen T.V. in the last year.Don't bother me.......than why spend time say search when i'm sure less typing would be involved giving an answer??????

  9. You need to do a search via a avocat to find out if there are any plans for up grading the line, this may involve access to your land, conpulsery purchace for track expansion ect. SNCF should have a 10 year plan that you can access, though any up grade could take up to 20 years to put in place.
