Pucette advised me to buy savon noir to clear the old kitchen tiles. Off to Super U this morning and delighted to find said stuff on the shelf. sadly, no instructions for use on the tub. Should this be diluted, used as a soap or what? can Pucette or anyone else help?

We have an old farmhouse with a beautiful stone floor in the kitchen. Can anyone tell me the best way to clean the stone? so far I have only vacuumed and lightly mopped with water and a little washing up liquid. I want to keep the lovely shine on most of the stones.

Can anyone let me know when(and how best) to harvest our walnuts? I understand from another thread that pickled walnuts need to be picked now and someone suggested soaking them is eau de vie. Do we take the green skin off first? In October, do we wait for the walnuts to drop off or should we pick them first? Thank's for you help in advance.

There is a good secondary school in Chef Boutonne with lots of English speaking kids. There is also a 6th form college in Sauze Vaussais called the Ann Frank college. The school bus picks up the local kids and drops them off at the school

Your cats will remain in the car in their cages on the ferry. They will be fine and you will be allowed to check on them once during the journey (escorted). Go for the shortest land journey because many cats prefer this to long car journeys. Don't attempt to stop on the way in the car to let them out to 'do their business' as this distresses cats even more. Cats will not go to the tiolet for a few days. Don't worry they will be fine. Buy a spray from your vets to calm them before you set off. Spray the bedding and the inside of the car. Good luck.

We moved to a small hamlet near sauze vaussais in the Deux Sevres last October. I think the area is beautiful and very popular with a number of brits, Dutch & Germans. I say go for it!
