  1. Don't much about it, but people I worked with last year went and raved about it. The Fte de Bayonne is one of the biggest in the south west with lots of Spanish (or should that be Basque?) influence including, I think, Bandas. It goes on for 4 or 5 days and the nights are long ...... I think the outfits are just traditional local costume. Rabbit
  2. Carte d'identit is all he will need for UK entry.
  3. My current ISP is Free. I want to upgrade to broadband, but not necessarily with Free as other ISPs seem to have potentially better deals. If I change ISP will I have to change my e-mail address? Thanks in advance for any advice.
  4. Does anybody know the usual length of a university day and if lectures take place on Saturdays with Wednesdays "off"? Thanks Rabbit
  5. Does this have another name in France? I don't seem to be able to find it in any local supermarket, even a large Auchan. Thanks in advance for any help.
  6. We have finally received our free2view card, but the UK address is in Wales and so channel 104 is S4C Digidol - aagh! We have the choice of two ITV channels (HTV or Granada), but seem to have no standard Channel 4. Is is likely that Channel 4 will come through later or are we to be deprived of this option? This will be a shame as we enjoy a number of programmes broadcast on Channel 4 and this was the only other channel we really, really wanted to get back. I hadn't thought about S4C at all - and it's rather unfair on non-Welsh speakers living in Wales and having to use satellite to get a decent picture isn't it? Is it all down to money (for a change!)? I would welcome any advice on this situation and thank you in anticipation.
  7. Are you needing/intending to work when you move? Most opportunities would be in the Toulouse area which would be quite a long drive. I agree with Val's points, very pretty place, but could be difficult to live there with the busy seasonal traffic of people and cars. Advantage is that BDL has a train station unlike some other resorts in the Pyrenees (and its proximity to Spain for cheaper fuel, alcohol and tobacco is a huge plus!). Maybe a village further north is worth looking at - gives you more flexibility of visiting other interesting places and you would probably get more for your money than in Bagneres which is quite an upmarket spa town .........? Bonne chance!
