    LAWN MOWER ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS

    Hi,

    I have had a sit-on m ower for several years and although I bought a new battery this week the engine starts BUT the cutters when switched on start to rotate but immediately stall the engine.

    It is a oleo-mac hydrostatic auto. mower and I believe it has 3 safety devices,

    1.under the seat which has not worked for years and the mower still worked ok.

    2.behind the grass catcher

    and 3 near the footbrake.

    the dash has lots of lights indicating what is working etc. and these connect to an electronic card.A loud beeping noise as an audible warning is bleeping all the time but until last week I could still operate the machine.

    Any ideas to what could be causing the mower not to operate the cutting blades...before I have yet another expensive collection of mower by the shop.

    hi,

    After 10 years my lawn mower battery will give a brrr noise but not turn over engine.Recharging no help'.

    So bought a new baterry and my mower manual recommends to charge even a new battery before use to extend life.

    So question is that they recommend to use constant voltage charger,otherwise you can damage battery!

    I have old charger bought in England about 20years ago and it only has a needle on scale and a low or high position switch.It has a sticker on it stating 3.5amps.

    I'm not electrically clever .......will this model be ok?

    THE reading on new battery is about 12.1 volts.

    HELP RE MODEM SET UP

    hi,

    My old neuf modem crashed or whatever and I also when trying to use a spare Billion modem my son gave me crashed my Acer laptop resulting in a message saying CRPT32.d11 driver is missing coming onto screen which I could not sort out.Now at Shop and they said will need to download a lot of drivers etc in English from the internet as they only have French info.This may double the repair cost. My son said surely if they loaded French info. then since my p.c. has a user/control panel to set it to English!

    All goobblygook to me as I am a late user of the internet!!!

    Next problem....i received a new neufbox sfr modem different to my old model which was only for internet use.I have tried to use my wife's laptop to get back on line until my Acer is repaired!

    The new box is white and has acces,traffic,tel,tv.,wifi and alarm lights as well as different connecters.

    I managed to get it to work with an ethernet cable so fa but no light on tel or tv.

    1.AS MY NEUF/SFR CONTRACT IS FOR INTERNET AND TEL. CALLS and I have France Telecom for a fixed line for emergency use,will i GET CHARGED BY THE LATTER AS NO LIGHT SHOWING ON THE NEW MODEM?

    Or since ethernet connects then will my tel.calls be identified by neuf.??

    2.When I unplug ethernet cable and try to use wifi in another room it does not connect!I have pressed a bouton cadenas then OK within 1 minute ,but no success.

    My French is not good about 50 years since grammar school!

    Appreciate any advise before I self distruct!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I have surrounding the pool porous concrete  tiles called MANOSQUE ex Sovidal,and after 10 years they have dark stains due to normal pollution etc.

    What has anyone found as a good cleaner.

    A high pressure water jet has removed ,but still a bit messy.

    Despite ,as previously done , draining pump this winter the repair shop said the aluminium body around the moter had cracked and a new pump necessary!!Think I will go back to winter circulation in future!!

    Either a seal had allowed wate in or a small amount of water around in this severe freezing winter caused problem!

    This on top of new discs on car does not bode well !!

    Thanks. for replies The tank figure of 1000 l was found on papers for cleaning tank,probably an error and a 3000litre most likely as no problems for 10years until now.The grease trap pipework joins the pipework after the" toilet waste poo  " tank and after this there are 3 perforated pipes to allow water to escape into soil soak away ",which is where I have noticed the black water .So perhaps a blockage or damage to pipe  work here?

    Is it a good idea to get an high pressure hose from grease trap to this area?

     

    Water from kitchen and showers goes via grease trap.- to soak away ...so does ths mean the system is a FOSSE TOUTES EAUX?

    Recently noticed the toilet after flushing gives a" glug glug" sound as if air trapped in it.

    Used  a plunger and a wire spirral without improvement .Put down the normal chemicals to help kick start bacteria ,if necessary.

    The fosse was cleaned out last September and grease trap.Have been here 10 years, and normally needed cleaning out every 3 years.

    The system has been approved  as(  diagnostic ) required by law by Saur .

     

    The tank is 1000litre and I do not believe there is a filter ,but believe  water travels through a perforated pipe with 3 arms radiating from it on my slightly sloping land..

    With all the rain this winter can this have prevented drainage of the soak away? as I have noticed when I cut the high grass for the first time last week one area was a little smelly and black.

    The fosse looks near to full again but only 2 people here and our toilet habits have not changed to this extent!! 

    Appreciate the experts comments .

     

    starter problem -sit on mower

    I have mower which last month would not start and I found a new solenoid solved the problem.

    Today,now rain stopped tried to start it but engine not turning but  a vibration noise seems to come from new solenoid !!?????

    Any ideas please...batery ok and conectins to solenoid....HELP GRASS IS COMING UP TOO FAST AND LOTS OF OTHER MAINTENANCE PROBLEMS/when it rains it pours!!as problems grow too!!

    I managed to take pump out and the capaciter looks fine and local repair shop found pump would not turn,so water has got past seals onto windings probably too.

    Guy will strip it down next week and AT LEAST IT WILL NOT BE A NEW PUMP, and be cheaper to do this.Fingers crossed and weather too cold for algae to begin in Haute vienne.

    After winterising pool and draining pumps aand filters ,today I started to set pool up again as the water level is very high with all this rain.

    Everything fitted,BUT I forgot to fill up the filter before putting the top on.I switched on and got a humming sound.

    Switched off immediately and opened the filter top and water started to rise up inside itI .re-tightened top  and tried pump again.Still humming when switched on.

    What could be problem  pump is a HYDROSWIM 1,CV   ,WHATEVER THAT MEANS .I AM 74 YRS YOUNG AND TRYING TO GET A GRIP ON THESE THINGS,THANKS.[:D]

    Is THIS A DIY FIX?

    did notwant to post on garden section

    After storage and recharging battery I placed back on mower.Unfortunately the seat which lowers down above the battery had caught the red +ve  connecting cable and managed to cut through the rubber boot on the end.

    This is what I found out after the mower would not start and a spring which the seat reats on was found to be very hot!

    Fortunately not the electric chair voltage!!!.When I had twisted the cable over away from the underside of the metal seat and tried again I suppose the battery had lost most of its charge into the seat??I tried again starter moter turned twice very faintly.

    Recharged battery for 2 hours and tried again but not turning the starter at all ,although front headlamps lit.

    The model is automatic gear change( OLEOMATIC ).

    will charge battery overnight but could I have done any damage with shorting the battery through the seat??and destroyed something else??

    I used 2metre x1metre high trellis(about 1.5" diameter lats) folding type and attached to posts .This can be left as is or painted with wood stains or coloured breathable paint.

    I painted mine green and this blends in with garden.This fence has survived 10 years now and is in need of a little touch -up soon.

     

    smoke alarms

    As many may know it will be mandatory to fix a smoke/fire alarm in all houses very shortly.

    I have had one I bought in uk manynyears ago but decided to buy a new one in FranceThis standard photoelectric model with 9vbattery has been fitted ,but it keeps beeping every 30-40 seconds!

    i have checked battery is new and ok but find this beep annoying as I believe it means a new battery is required!!!

    any advice welcome.

    SFR sim card unregistered???

    hi,

    I have had for a few years now a SFR sim card and only buy top-ups for use in an emergency such as travelling back to uk.

    Today my phone states Sim unregistered 31october 2010.

    Does this meaan I have to buy a new sim card or visit SFR shop for them to correct this.I presume I must not have used their service since oct,2010.

    I do have sfr internet account only and FT FIXED LINE account in case sfr-internet fails when we need phone .
