  2. Are there any carpet layers with the necessary tools in the Gers (32) area.  I understand the French way is glue with no underlay......!!!! I am bringing carpet, underlay and straight edge for one med bedroom and landing down from UK this month and would like it laid. Many thanks for any help, Kiwi
  3. Help...!! Does anyone have a small caravan for a couple either for rent or sale. Having now got well underway with our renovations project - well the demolition side anyway - we now realise what everyone means by things taking their time ....so ....hence the plea for help. We are near to Auch in the Gers 32 and can collect from anywhere in this region. Please leave a message with a contact number or email address and I will contact you back. Many thanks, Kiwi
  4. Many thanks Richard, this is very helpful. Everything is so much easier if you know what to expect. Our choice of Germany is that we have a good friend there who has also lived in the UK and who can help us with the interpretation etc. Thanks again, Kiwi
  5. Christiane Many thanks for your info on the tax issues, I guess we all have to pay them sometime. Thanks, Kiwi
  6. Has anyone had any first hand experience of buying a car in Germany and then bringing it into France?? We see the advantages of the initial price benefits but are wondering what the steps are for a current UK resident to firstly register the vehicle in their name in Germany and then take it to France where we have a house. How does the insurance work, is there a time limit on the insurance from Germany. I guess another question is - is it possible to avoid paying the VAT in Germany by bringing it into the UK first? Any urgent help on this would be muchly appreciated. Kiwi
  7. For anyone wanting to store their goods in the UK while you sort out your French house, I have found some fantastic, very reasonable storage in Kent, nr Sevenoaks so it is already on the way. After a good look around this is the best I have found. Anyone wanting to know the contact details or more info, just leave a message in my inbox. Kiwi
