we are looking for a loan /mortgage to do up our property. Our property has now been paid outright but we need to do this up. i have heard of a new "pret hypotheque" . I or my partner have not decided our fiscal status as yet though at present we are still under the UK system until we work out the best options considering we will be doing some uk work too. we are self employed . It may be easier to be under the french system considering i have a daughter (will post message on childcare in one of these posts too)i have also read about 0 per cent loans - what are the advantages and or disadvantages of this too? any help appreciated.

first of all what do you mean by double batten? I was thinking of putting battens inside of joists with rockwool with foil back plasterboard for the ceiling of the cellar. what do you think for the cheapest option?
-
we want to show the beams on our ceiling so cannot be too thick (ideally). we have seen some silver foil ones but seem to be expensive. They are thinner and it represents about 250mm of the usual stuff but it seems pricey at a trader here in cahors at 13euros per metre. any ideas appreciated. thanks!

was a tax specialist uk/france. will review further and maybe renew contact to understand further.

what french regulations are they? why would accountant say this then?
Was he an English acountant? Why would you expect him to understand French law? And don't try to rely on "free movement of goods and services", these regs do not override local regulations. If you want an exact answer, ask a qualified French person - you could start with the Chambre de Commerce, their advice is usually free.
have you had a uk limited company from france. we may spend a bit of time in both countries so trying to think what is best solution. thanks in advance for any help.
If one is past retirement ages, presumably social charges are not payable? I ask because I currently have a UK limited company, but am thinking about becoming self-employed in France once I am 60. Thanks for any help and happy New Year
-
so basically at least 4000 euros for the first year if an artisan - it seems a high amount.
-
i am told that the social charges whether you make money or not is about 500 euros per month. is this definitely the case? please confirm. thanks in advance.

what do people suggest? we are still insured in the uk at present. we also have a french car. i believe an MOT would need to be done on uk car. thanks in advance.
Remember, if your UK disc runs out and you have not completed export documents you will face an automatic fine and yes MOT can only be carried out in the UK.. You are better off to register and insure your car in France and also there is no road tax. The other possible serious scenario is even if your car has UK insurance but has been outside the UK for a period of time and the Insurance company have not agreed to continue the insurance in France, then most will not meet any claims which could even include third party. This would leave you with no insurance cover, so considering re-registering would then be the best way forward. If you look in search this subject has been discussed many times in detail. sounds good. will look up VIN. any idea of transport cost to france. we or my partner may be in uk at some stage too.
Let me know the VIN number. I have a mate in the UK who imports these as small campers. He'll either have one in stock or he could probably obtain one for you. I'd be surprised if the Delica was a regular import into France, so spares may be non existent over here. If you want, I'll see if he can help.
what company did you choose to register your uk registered car? we will give it a go at our end too.
Our 106 is 9 years old we moved over in Aug got insurance cover no problem. You do not need CT for insurance. We are know in process of registering car. Suggest you try another insurance company
