  1. Hi. we are just about to start letting our our holiday home for holiday lets and have used the search facility to try to find out about possible examples of letting contracts with no success. No doubt this question has been posted before but I can't find it so would some kind person let me know if there are such things as draft contracts and if so where I can find them?
  2. afraid that web address doesn't work - is it completely right? sorry to be a pain.
  3. sorry for the late reply - thanks for your help - our sale has been delayed for legal reasons.....!!??!! Thanks again
  4. We're signing the acte de vente on our holiday cottage 10 miles West of Chabanais on 7th May. Can anyone recommend someone who could cut grass/ keep an eye on an above ground pool during the Spring/Summer. reply by email if you'd prefer or if there are rules about advertising on the forum. Thanks very much.
  5. Can anyone recommend a small removal company which will accept a load of about 10 cubic metres (half a long wheelbase van?) from UK to Charente/Dordogne borders? There are lots of ads for men with vans in the mags but I've heard dire things about cowboys........ sixtysomething
  6. Sorry not to have replied and thanked everyone sooner - been tied up with french mortgage applications!  I also tried a web search and no joy so have reluctantly gone to herz via ryanair. Lets hope things improve later in the season. sixtysomething
  7. I had the same problem last year but a couple of weeks ago (flight to Limoges) when I checked in on-line I was given the option of checking in for the return as well -  but as we were only away for three days maybe this is the reason? Sixtysomething
  8. Hi All - anyone know of a reasonable car hire firm for Angouleme Airport. The few quotes I have had seem extremely high at a minimum £145 for a 2 day period. Ryanair have just changed the flight times from evening to mid-day which may be causing problems that aren't sorted yet and many of the sites I've tried on the web either don't feature the airport or say they are closed. It is the 31st March which might well be the first flight of the season but...? Sixtysomething
  9. How true - it was anice house - but the traffic!!! no wonder it was so cheap. Never mind we did find something else further north. Thanks for your help sixtysomething
  10. Thanks for your information - all grist to the mill sixtysomething
  11. Thanks - yes we are also aware of the A20 problem - the vendors say it is out of sight and hearing range but they would say that wouldnt they! Have looked at it on geoportail at it's acouple of big fields away - too close in my opinion.
  12. Hi all Does anyone know what the traffic/noise on this road is like now since the A20 opened? We are thinking of viewing a house which is about 50 meteres off this road in the Northern  Lot near a place called Lamothe-Cassel south of Labastide Murat but are worried that the road will still be very busy and noisy. I don't expect it to be rural calm or total silence but if anyone knows the area perhaps they could give me their opinion. Thanks for your time. sixtysomething
  13. Hi all - still trying to find out the truth about running gites. Being in the hospitality industry we know all about long hours and hard work, but there seems to be a divergence of opinion about running gites. The forum has lots of postings saying things like "60 hour week" "never worked so hard before" etc etc whilst when we attended a "Running a Gite" Course (you'll know who operates them) the Gite owner who was taking part said this wasn't true and that while changeover day was hard, the rest of the time was much easier. Suspect the truth lies between the two and how much you make yourself available for the guests, how much land you have to maintain, how much washing and ironing you have to do etc. We are in our mid fifties and don't want (or possibly have the stamina) to jump from the frying pan of running a pub restaurant with lots of difficult staff into a fire of 24/7 eternal washing, ironing and cleaning all on our ownsome. Would be glad to hear how you find it
