Worked for me too Wooly (at least as far as vocabulary goes) plus I got to learn all kinds of words I could never have picked up in a French class [:$]
But for the grammar, I still took weekly French lessons for 4 years after arrival.

I rely heavily on Trip Advisor http://www.tripadvisor.fr/ when researching hotels for holidays in France. I don't much like big hotels, and usually try to find smaller, family run places.
With the aid of the comments made by others who have used the hotels, I haven't been disappointed yet, and have stayed in places I would never have found otherwise.

I'd not seen those red top traps before, so googled for more info. They seem quite expensive, but I did find a DIY alternative that might be worth a shot...

Friday the 13th is considered a lucky day to buy a lottery ticket.
It is possible to suffer from les jambes lourdes (heavy legs) and/or la crise de foie (crisis of the liver). Ever met anyone from any other country that suffers from these?
Duck fat is good for you. [blink]

I have no direct experience of this, as I haven't been brave enough to install IE8 yet, but there a some suggestions here...

I'll remove it baypond.
I doubt that the company that the poster is purporting to represent would really use a hotmail/windows live email address to advertise for candidates [Www]

Oooh yum!
They sound so much more appetising than the Johnny Hallyday stamps I had a flyer in my postbox for today, not sure what kind of odour they would have, sweaty leather perhaps [+o(]

Admin is looking into it.
I don't know, but I suspect the reason your post was deleted was because you included a screen shot showing the email address of another forum member.
Perhaps you'd like to PM me telling me how you managed it.

This guy's your man!
Sadly not in your area, but 11 minutes 35 seconds [:-))]

Are you sure that new number is right savoirflair?
If you are in France, and need to speak to the English helpline I think the number should be 0800 36 47 75 or 01 55 78 60 56.

After playing the cat game I came across another game, and thought it was so good that I hunted out the whole series by the same developer.
They are room escape games, devilishly tricky but highly addictive (and very time consuming, although you can save at any point and return later). If you like puzzles, following clues and a bit of lateral thinking, they might be right up your street.
The * values on each game indicate their difficulty. I'd start with the one * game (switch) and keep a pen and paper handy.

If you add some crushed garlic to the yogurt/cucumber/mint mixture you''ll have tzatziki.
You can spoon it over some slices of aubergine that have been brushed with olive oil and grilled on the barbeque (or in the oven) and then left to cool a little.

... I agree totally with Chris pp that the vast majority of users of this forum do not really understand the French and why France is like it is. That's obvious from the comments here...
Couldn't agree more Will.
But that's only natural, not everyone has the same level of experience here, and even those that have been here for years must sometimes wonder if they will ever really understand the French . I can see them sometimes, in my mind's eye, shaking their heads , raising their eyebrows, going "whaaaaaat??? [:-))] I find myself doing it all the time, and I live with one of 'em ( but then I'm not always certain that I truly understand the British either).
The forum isn't called Expert France, it's not a competition to prove who is the wisest or most integrated, it'd be a pretty boring place if it were. It's just somewhere to seek advice, somewhere for those thinking of moving to France, or those already here but still not yet well versed in the hows and whys of France.
But it's also a place to have a bit of a giggle, or even let off steam from time to time [;-)]
If they had a fat tax they would ultimately lose money, as nobody would buy their 6euro sandwiches (don't quote me on that please!)
Oh Gyro, I miss read your post at first, I thought you said fart tax...
Now there's an idea [;-)]

To be fair, Jon has already said in another thread that he is dyslexic.
On the same thread (last year) quite a few people pointed out the spelling and grammar problems on his website.

That could catch on Frederick [:)]
Alternatively you could try lobbing a stale slice of bread in the direction of the transgressor foolish enough to speak French at the table (or stamping on their foot under the table if your shot isn't that good).
I myself favour a pea-shooter though[Www]
