My wife and I plus two small children are renting a house in France for a year. Assuming we are returning to the UK at the end of the year, will an E111 be enough to get us cover if anyone's ill or do we need to pay for some extra cover? Any help very gratefully received Miles

Dear All I am a freelance journalist moving with my family to the Gers for a year (min) and would like some advice. We are renting a house (500 pcm), all my income will be paid into our UK bank (First Direct) and I will continue to pay tax in the UK. What's the best way to get money to France? Is it best to buy as much stuff on Visa credit card and pay that direct from UK bank account or is it cheaper to do big transfers (1,000 a time) via TAPS into French account and use that as normal? After searching forum I think I will open a La Post bank account to pay rent/water bills etc. Does it charge for TAPS payments to go in? Is that the best option? What do we do about child benefit - this is not (at this stage a permanant move)? All thoughts/ideas very gratefully received. Miles
