Kimmy, We too are in much the same boat. I have a son of fourteen, and a daughter of eight. I'll be looking at properties in about three weeks around the Vendee and surrounding areas. I've been searching the net and this site for info, but there's nothing like first hand experiences. Schooling for my son is the biggest factor. I'm interested in Parthenay, where they have a few schools with international sections. Have you looked at any schools yet? Regards Steve

Could somebody please help us in our search for good school for our fourteen year old son. He is extremely intelligent and speaks basic French, but at his age the change from an English to french school is a huge leap. If anybody out there would like to share their own similar experiences, or recommend a sympathetic school it would be greatly appreciated. We are searching for a home in Charente, but, obviously, our choice of home will be determined by the location of a good school. Regards, Steve

My question is: As an English bricklayer with seventeen years experience under my belt, would I be able to earn a basic living wage, possibly in Brittany?
