  1. Sabina,   Thanks very helpful to know I can be part of the Micro BIC Scheme but ... I don't seem to have the right form then - I have form 2042  - 'Declaration Des Revenues 2005' which the French tax office sent to me. Assume form 2042C is different as I can't find a section C or a box NO. I will try tem again. Dave G.
  2. I have rented my home out in the Dordogne for the 1st time in the past year and the income received (less than £7000 and all received in the UK) has been declared to the HM Customs along with my employment earnings. However, friends tell me I also have to declare the UK income to the French tax people who I wrote to last week and they agreed that I do indeed have to fill in their form and sent me Form 2042 to fill in. Anyone tried to fill this form in? - not easy but Section 8 looks like a possibility but nowhere to show costs for anything e.g. security, insurance, gardening, laundry, changeovers, breakages etc. Is there a set deduction (%) for costs that is given or do I need to show every item and send receipts for everything?. Any help/advice greatfully received. Dave G.
  3. Karen,   All sounds rather petty! Understand if you left the rubbish loose on the floor but assume it was bagged up but you couldn't find the bins. I would just ignore it and it is a pitty they have nothing else to complian about.. Come to my place in the Dordogne where the bins and re-cycling boxes are at the end of the drive and they are emptied every Wednesday without fail.   Dave G.
  4. Margie,   I am charged 10 euros per person for laundry and 15euos per hour for gardening. Hope that helps.   Dave G.
  5. Jenny,   I include normal end of stay cleaning in my rental rate BUT that assumes they have left the place clean and tidy as found and there is only a need to ensure bathrooms, toilets, cookers and sinks are pristine for which my letting manager charges me 50euros. If it is left untidy, no cleaning done etc - e.g. by your English guests, the letting manager tells me how much extra time that has taken (over about 2 hours for a normal changover) and that is deductable from the security deposit at a rate of 15e per hour. This is set out in the terms and conditions of the rental agreement.   Mr G
  6. I have completed rennovation of my house in the Dordogne and set everything up to rent it out as a holiday home this summer. I have some bookingd already!  I live in the Uk and would welcome any advice on the taxation of rental income, what expenses and charges can be offset e.g. can mortgage interest raised against my UK home be allowed against the rental income, what about local french taxes - tax d'habitation etc - then there is the costs from the letting agent, gardening, repairs, changeover costs, linen, utilities. Any good books or websites anyone can recommend? dave.
