  1. Having bought a property earlier this year I have been approached by the previous owners to pay a share of the taxe fonciere. Although I believe that this seems fair I have been informed that the bills that have been received this year are actually for 2004 and not 2005 as the French work a year in arrears. Is this correct?
  2. I have recently visited the tax office to regisister my gite business as a micro BIC. I am now surprised to recieve a form from the tax office asking for information regarding surface area etc in order to calculate my tax professionelle. I was under the impression that as I did not have to register as a business I would not be liable for this tax only a tax on my income. Can anyone advise.
  3. My wife and I are in our first year of running a gite business and are hoping some of the more experienced gite owners out there can give us some tax advice. We are resident in France and our expected income for this year will be approx 15 - 16000 Euros. We seek advice on registering if required, tax regimes, tax thresholds and what social security we can expect to pay. Any advice or helpful tips will be greatly appreciated.
