1.
Really? Or are you just revving me up? Alcazar
Really! Probably a bit like the pick pocket school in Oliver Twist! Lynda
2.
THIS IS NOT A RACIST POST!!! What IS it with some Nigerians? How come 90% of these scams originate there? Are they just criminal? Or do they think the rest of us are thick? Alcazar
Apparently they have special schools in Nigeria to teach Fraud and various scams, or so I was told by the fraud dept of the Credit Card bank I used to work for. They make loads of fraudulent credit card applications by setting up fraud rings within the Post Office and then they intercept Credit Card mailings, make their applications, and pick up the credit cards when they are sent out in the post! 3. If you're looking at Blue Voda then may also be worth looking at Moonfruit.com. Similar type, and I can vouch that it is easy and professional looking as I'm building one with them at the moment. Including a free domain name it's only about £5.99 per month for up to 5 sites equalling 100mb. It's only about £60 per year if you pay up front - I think! Good Luck   Lynda
4. We've just had our old Godin woodburning stove, which we found in the garage, fitted into our existing large fireplace for appx 76 euros. Looking at all the other quotes I'm wondering why there is such a difference? Anyone know if we should be worried, or am I missing the point completely! Lynda
5. Why not look further a field, or ask for recommendations from your local Vet or even at your nearest dog club.  We are also going away at Christmas and want to leave our German Shepherd somewhere where he'll get the exercise he needs.  When we took him to his weekly Canine Club we asked there and were recommended a kennel which is linked to one of the organisers. Fingers crossed it's ok, and we're going to view it next week. But putting out an advert is a great idea!   Good luck Lynda
6. Thanks for all the replies. Our GSD is now on dry food, medium priced, and his tummy troubles seem to have settled. Of course, if and when our situation changes, I may change his diet to one of the 'better' more expensive foods. But it's good to know that there are some GSD's out there on a more mid priced diet! Anyway I feel like I'm a member of an 'exclusive club' being a GSD owner - now we just need to get the crazy dog trained! Lynda
7. Hi We will be building an extension shortly. We've seen a new local house is being built with 'thermobric' and wondered if anyone had used these type of bricks or knew anything about them, i.e. pros & cons, are they economical to use? Thanks Lynda
8. Thanks to you all for your sharing your experiences. I have had a look at the Royal Canine, but was a bit taken back by the price! I'd love to be able to afford it but just can't. I was going to try Brekkies Excel, but couldn't find it for pups in my local supermarket so I may try looking a bit further afield. I'm really interested in the 'Burns' food but as discussed above, I need to check out the transport costs, though the actual price looks reasonable. So, meanwhile I have ended up with Friskies for pups dry dog food, which looks comparable to Brekkies. He has only had one feed of it so far, so hopefully we should see some improvement 'at the rear end' over the next day or 2! Thanks Lynda
9. Hi We have just adopted a beautiful 8month old German Shepherd from the local SPA. From what I have read I shouldn't be buying cheap tinned or dry food as it will give him stomach problems. I've been looking on the supermarket shelves but I really don't know one from the other. So could anyone recommend a good reasonably priced dog food that will maintain his health? I've also seen a cold compartment selling fresh meat that looked reasonably priced.  Is this better and if so do you give it raw or cooked? Or what about the big sausage things - they were about 2 euros and again I'm not sure if these are any good and how much to give him. They could work out quite expensive. Also should I give him any extra vitamins for his coat, or just add a raw egg in with his meal? His hair seems is a bit brittle at the moment on the top, but I don't know if this is because he is long haired, as the lower hair seems quite soft.  Any help gratefully received. Regards Lynda
10. Thanks Ecossais I've tried all sorts in the Accounts box, and have resorted to adding on my new FR address, but have kept my old UK account just so i don't miss any emails. Guess I shouldn't have tried to be so clever in the first place!
11. I did question several people at wanadoo about this before I left the uk and all said I could continue to use it. As I said earlier I can receive emails no problem, and as no  other number is being dialled up I am confident that I am not paying any extra charges.  However, saying that, a couple of times when I was trying to reply, the dial up connection showed my previous (UK) dial up no. when I was already connected to wanadoo.fr.  So  perhaps I can receive but not send. Anyway it was only for previous business purposes that we didn't want to change, but in hindsight, I think it will be easier to use the wanadoo home page to access my uk email address and revert to my French one on Outlook. By the way I did get a hotmail account, I just don't like using it. Thanks for your input. Lynda
12. Help & advice needed once again please! Well, today I've managed to set up Wanadoo broadband! However, I was advised by Wanadoo in the UK that I could still use my old email address which ends "wanadoo.co.uk", when I moved here. And, although I can receive emails I can't seem to send any as they come back with the following message: This is the AVG E-mail Scanner program. I'm sorry to have to inform you that the message returned below could not be delivered to one or more destinations. ------------------------------------------------------------------- [email protected]: Administrative prohibition ------------------------------------------------------------------- All but one of my sent emails have been returned with this message. I have no idea why one of them was delivered ok.  If it is of any use the one that got through was to a Tiscali address. In addition, this problem started as soon as I set up with Wanadoo libre service, so I doubt it's anything to do with the broadband connection. But as it has taken almost 3 weeks to get this far, I am beginning to pull my hair out - and it hurts!  Can anyone help to save my sanity?
13. It turns out our neighbours do have a dish - I just didnt see it! Looks like we are going to have to get one after all! Many thanks!
14. Many thanks, I'll have a look in my local Leclerc for Sucre Glace!
15. Can anyone tell me if I can buy icing sugar and if so what it is called? I've been looking but I can't seem to find any. Or, if not what is the alternative for icing fairy cakes etc.? Thanks Lynda
