  1. Thanks, Thanks and more Thanks,   I have a laptop, that is more difficult to access for the French characters, This is excellent. Save the toolbar to your workspace, you have to initiate it (Double click) to run it, but it works very well. I am looking how to save the toolbar into Word, no luck so far, any one with idea's.   Boxxen (Alias Jim)
  2. Hi Roseysan   Got your e-mail, but cannot respond through Living France, please send your normal e-mail address for us to communicate.   Jim et Lily[:D]
  3. Hi All,   We purchased our home in the Hesdin area just over 1 year ago, we used AC Immobilier in Hesdin, Jean Pierre is your contact, French by birth, but lived in the UK for 30+ years.   Orpi Imm, contact is Christina, they have links with Hexgone UK (Folkestone)   As mentioned Maggie Kelly is also a good contact.   There is a fairly large ex-pat community in the area, all very helpfull, also some English B&B's who would be a good source of Info and help.   a bientot Lily et Jim
  4. Hi Opal Fruit,   Just want to add an extra spin on this debate/discussion, When I installed my own central heating system back in the good old UK, I used a flux that did not require cleaning the pipes first. Does the French hard and soft solders, come with this self cleaning flux, or do I/we still need to clean the pipes, as this will be my first job in the new house. Thanks Jim and Lily
  5. Hi to you all on this forum subject, Lily and I (Jim) have recently purchased a house in Bouin Plumoison near to Hesdin. We bought it for weekends and vacation with plan to move over when we retire in 6 years time, hopefully when we reach 60. We are looking for contacts and hopefully make friends in and around the area, so if you want to meet up for Beers and Wine etc. contact us and see where it all goes. Does anybody know of Fench Language teachers in the area. Jim and Lily
  6. Hi All,   The briquette maker is available in most countries, do a search on the web. I have just ordered one via Easy Living, at £23 delivered, seems France is even cheaper. From friends, they tell me they take ages to dry out, so you need to get a good head start before you can start using them. I was told to start making briquetts early summer and really make a lot and let them dry in the sun.   Jim and Lily
  7. Hi Everybody,   Has anybody used or know of the product called Climapor Geo-acoustic, we have seen lots of Polystyrene products but his one is of recycled fibre (Rags)   Thanks   Jim and Lily
  8. Hi Everybody,   We recently purchased a house in Pas De Calais region, typical 1970's all concrete build, the sound insulation is not good, so we are looking for a stick on type system of insulation, that will reduce noise and hopefully reduce heat loss.   We have seen something in Mr Bricolage, but at 50+ euro's a roll, it seems expensive.   We know about plasterboard products, but is there anything else we can use.   Jim and Lily

  10. Hi All,   We  are moving to the Hesdin area (Pas De Calais 62) a bit North of you in Picardie. We have been quoted €35 cube of wood delivered to the gate, seems a better deal than further South.   Jim and Lily
  11. Hi Everybody,   As posted under French Mortgages, my partner and I are just in the process of purchasing a property, the dreaded article of the Fosse Septic has to be answered.   The questions we asked the Estate Agent, Is the FS current with the new law, his answer was that the FS conforms, and operates via a filter, then sends via Auto Discharge into a pipe into the ground.   As I have never come across a FS other one that need emptying, is his comments normal and fair.
  12. Hi Everybody,   My partner and I are just taking the huge leap into the mortgage mine field, can anybody advise on their experiences of UK verses French mortgages, we are only talking about a small amount £40k.
