  1. I am about to start repointing. The instruction book for the compressor recommends SAE40 oil. However in most of the DIY shops I have seen compressor oil viscosity 100 alongside compressors.Would anyone know if the two are compatible?
  2. We also live near Surgeres. My wife attends a Yoga class on a Monday  in Surgeres  The instructress is French and my wife is one of two Britishpeople attending. All very friendly and no English spoken. She had not done Yoga previously, and whilst it would have been easier with an English speaking instructor, has found the double challenge excellent. Much appreciation by the French for the way she is adapting to both.
  3. This is my first year of submitting personal tax returns in France.Previously I have submitted BIC forms to Paris, and having advised them last year that I am now residing in France assumed they would send this years form here. To date I have not received them. I assume I still have to submit BIC forms- or is the informatiuoin collected on my Private return? I have tried the site mentioned above by Val but on opening I get a wondow adising that the form corresponding to my research is not currently on line on taxes gouv.fr. I can OK the window and have tried inserting some form numbers but the boxes won't allow me to fill them wih the numbers I thought appropriate. I' m obviously doing something wrong. Any advice please- or can I get form from local office.

    Many thanks

  4. I went through registration process in december(La Rochelle). I too was worried as I had lost my bill of sale. Not even mentioned at any stage. I do not know how old your car is, I think it;s mainly new cars they look into. Mine is an S reg.
  5. Many thanks for the reply. My agent has sent details of Swiss Life along with quote from Generali Atoll TM, The cost of Generalli is 60.03 euros pert month foir the 2 of us (ages 61 and 57) whilst Swiss life is 107.47 to 138.79 euros.

  6. Has anyone used Generali Health Insurance. Extremely cheap( I know you get what you pay for) with 100% refunds in most categories, but  the lowest refund is in the Optician category. However as I understand you have to pay a large sum on top of your health refund is it not better to take minimun cover and pay up if and when you neeed spectacles?
  7. I have emailed DRIRE  but with no response. Does anyone know address for requsting demande d'identification in the Charente Maritime- Surgeres/Rochefort area.

Also I note in the original thread mention that registration plates have to be riveted and not screwed- is this an easy task?

    many thanks

  8. Anyone out there own an ariston gas cooker? WE have bought house which has Ariston typen CLG-PS-04 model C 057GP(x) F double oven. We can use the hob which has spark operated lighter. However we can not get the oven to work. We have never had a gas cooker before. Someone mentions pilot light. Anyone advise me how to light and where it is normally found.
  9. Many thanks for your reply, which is very clear. However as  paid full NIC in the 3 years before I retired should I not get the full 2 Years?
  10. Natalie Avella in her book The French Property Buyers handbook states that E106 is normally issued for 2 years depending on NIC payments made over working career. I have worked since I was 16(60 now) I finished work 31 May 2005. I have been issued with e106 for 1Year only, because  I am told by phone today, that as I only earned £2k in this tax year I am only entitled to a 1 year E106. Does anyone know the rules?
