I am with Almerys through Generali. They have always provided us with 2 cards for exactly the same circumstances as you are in. as you say it's only a piece of paper with a film on top!

Have bought from Darty online twice. You agree a delivery time and they are on the dot.Installers were very good and friendly.Delivery was free.
-
Darty and Boulanger are 2 similar to Currys etc

Slightly off topic, but BigDish advise that the "Red button" facility has been enhanced, both via Sky and Freesat, which until now has been a little limited.

Have had one installed at the Surgeres Leclerc for about a month. Use carte bleu or cash without problem. Of the machines of a similar type I have seen this has proved the easiest. It also asks if you want to use the balance of your "La Carte" if you so wish. Certainly quicker than using the cashiers.

I have just come across Yabla, which seems to incorporate many of the ideas in previous posts. Part of the course is to see videos- on topics of interest to yourself, with text in French and English below,You can even slow down the speech if you so wish. I have enrolled for a trial and have just watched a video by a jazz musician which kept my interest.

Whilst I appreciate "the law is the law" how many Brits will be aware of this new law. If you only advertise with a British company, I am not sure whether they will refuse your ad. For example the DPE report. I advertise on 2 sites. A French based site for winter lets who insists on a report for the ad, but a British company for the summer lets who has not asked for one. Providing your terms and conditions do not mention dogs, do you have a problem?

As a pet owner ourselves, we do not even allow our little dog in the gite. Several couples have enquired before booking because they are allergic to animal hairs etc. Could we be sued if someone with an allergy became ill after a visit, However good your cleaning system, you can not guarantee total eradication of hairs etc.

Who on earth came up with the idea! Maybe there's an opening for the real thing!

I wonder if they have been able to get hold of fresh laverbread for the full Welsh. I had to import it in tins this week.I do recall Lidl selling some food products last year which were called Welsh, but bore no resemblance to anything I have ever seen in Wales. I wondered at the time what the origin of the name meant in that connection.

You can watch most of the live French tv.channels(apart from TF1) on www.playtv.fr/television/- no downloads or subscription needed, or proxy server. For iPlayer www.tv-replay.fr. I have not tested the 2nd in the UK but know the first works.

For reading with the Ectaco you can buy a mini lamp. One of the main points of the batteries is that they are so easily available of course!
-
I've been using an Ectaco jetbooks lite for the past 12 months. Again can't connect directly to the net,and so far I have been catching up with many authors I had not got round to Not actually paid for any books Comes loaded with 100 books., and the bible. No noise when turning a page, easy to read, the version I use runs off 4 AA batteries.I always keep 4 on charge so it suits me fine.

If I transfer from NatWest same day CA charge €2.55. If I use HIFX no charge.Does anyone use FairFX? Their system dose sound very simple.

There's no set pattern. I had 3 parcels sent from UK by the same company on 31st December. One arrived last Saturday, the other 2 have yet to arrive. A weekly magazine I subscribe to was getting behind by 10/ 14 days.Last week arrived 2 days earlier than ever!
-
I wonder if the producers advise the male presenters "perhaps it's time for a botox injection" Doubt it.
-
Must be getting to the bottom of the pile- a parcel sent to me on 10th December from West Wales has now arrived.
-
many thanks for that-very interesting.

I have received an enquiry for a gite booking. The enquirer is 82 years of age, and wonders if there is an upper age limit. Does anyone have any experience? I have looked at a couple of renters but cannot find any reference so far.
-
I see the relevant text is "La location saisonnière est concernée dès lors que le logement est loué au moins quatre mois consécutifs ou non dans l'annéeI am told that this 4 month period is not necessarily the lease period but the total length of time the property is rented out per year- it can be comprised of weekly and monthly rentals. Any property that rents for less than 4 months in total per year will not require a DPE to be shown. However I am unsure whether you need one if you only advertise with UK companies for example.

Interesting to read on the thread"diagnostique" that the article from FPN mentions that it is only long term lets rather than holiday lets that are covered. Before we all start shelling out euros, does anyone know if this is correct?

When we left the UK in 2006, our doctor provided us with a hardcopy of our medical records, without fuss or charge.
-
Quite. If you are letting for a week, or 2 weeks at a time, and certainly if the cost of heating etc and you do not make a charge for heating etc, it seems extremely pointless. The other point I am not sure about is whether you have to display the rating in ads with British companies or just those advertising in France,
-
Both of us received ours also for 2010
So, what's he got to hide?
