  1. thanks very much for the response to my junk mail problems. The day after I posted the message I received 63 emails and 62 of them were junk so I will definitely be trying some of your possible solutions. Harvey, A Very  Happy New Year to you too!! Dunny [:D]
  2. [:@] I have Norton Anti  Spam yet find I am still inundated with emails from the USA offering me a variety of medicines and in particular upgrades to Microsoft. I must spend at least 15 minutes deleting these unsolicited messages every time I log onto my computer. If anyone  has  found a solution to blocking these annoying emails I would appreciate a reply Jan
  3. Hello 3 years ago (being quite naive) upon leaving the UK I made a general enquiry to Sky as to what the situation would be should I move to France  permanantly. I was told in no uncertain terms that I could not have Sky as they do not hold a francise here and as I had been with them for over 12 years I was not amused. When we did eventually leave we gave our daughters address to them and as we already paid by direct debit we just brought our box/dish and card with us. My husband just fixed the dish to the side of the house and kept moving it until we got a picture (No problem). We have since had to buy a new box as the old one broke and simply inserted our card into the box and there was no problem there so I do not think you need to activate your card on a particlar box unless it is a totally new system. Whatever you do , do not tell them you are in France. If you have a problem I will email you direct Jan
  4. Thank you very much to those of you who responded to my message about cleaning. We already have an information pack in each cottage that requests that outgoing guests leave the place in the clean and tidy manner that it was found in, that does not mean I expect them to scrub the place on their hands and knees (they are on holiday of course- including mum) but after one family left it took me 8 hours to clean their cottage and if there had been guests coming in that day I would have felt it necassary to put them into a Hotel for the night as I would not have wanted to stay in the cottage myself, which incidently is furnished and equipped to a very high standard and beds are changed by myself weekly. Anyway that's my moan over and done with, I suppose I just needed a little reassurance that what I thought was just common courtesy from my guests is what other gite owners expect.   Once again many thanks Dunny
  5. As a new owner can anyone please let me know what is normal practise regarding the outgoing guests and the cleanliness of the gite/cottage. Is it expected that they just walk out and leave crockery after breakfast on the table, soiled nappies in the bin ect leaving all the cleaning to the owner/caretaker. I know that most brits are used to a maid service in Spanish resorts but is it expected in France.
