Hi there, We need to clear out our storage area currently filled with bits of furniture destined for France.  Was wondering if anyone else was taking a load down that way who may have space available and was looking to share costs?  The items we have would fill a small van so space would need to be in a very large van or small truck. Moving from near Winchester, Hampshire to Cognac Dept 16.  We'd need to clear the storage before the end of Feb. Hi All, I haven't posted for ages cause we've been in the midst of a nightmare and I wanted to warn you all so that no one else has to go through what we have been through.  Hopefully by not mentioning any names I will not breach protocol. You may remember back in feb i posted for advice under the banner 'help my roof is missing'.  Well 7 months later and we are still embroiled in a battle with the roofing company - a supposedly reputable company who are considered the biggest in Charente for building works.  They left us COMPLETELY without a roof for 2 months and are refusing to fix the damage cause by all the rain that came in over this period.  To add insult to injury instead of just replacing the one bad beam they took a chainsaw to all our lovely old beams and have replaced them with new straightcut wood which is half the width of the old stuff. The beautiful plastered ceiling in the lounge is totally destroyed and there is too much more damage to mention.  If anyone would like to know who to avoid when getting work done please email me and I will enlighten you.  Please be careful - just because a company is well known doesn't mean they won't completely screw you over. Hi All, With my parents soon arriving from NZ we are looking for transportation for them and are tossing up whether to buy an old car in England for them to use for the month, or to buy an old car in france to keep at the house for future use. We are looking for something very cheap and reliable, preferably an estate or hatchback. If anyone around 16,17 or 47 has a car of this ilk they'd like to sell please get in touch! Tris

Hi All, Counting down now to the two short weeks we will have at the house for summer, we'll be there from 25th July to the 7th August and I'm hoping to tear hubby away from the renovations long enough to do a bit of market hopping! Does anyone know of any antique/bric-a-brac markets on in Western France during this period? We are based in Cognac but I don't mind a bit of a drive for a decent day out As we now (at last!) have a roof I can start collecting little treasures! Thanks for any tips - enjoy the summer! Tris
