It is our intention to pay someone either as an employee or sub-contractor, sorry, should have made that clear but thankyou for the advice - would prefer someone that lives in France permanently as my husband has a lot of work booked in but trying to cover all options, hence the working holiday idea, thought it could be an opportunity for someone who was thinking of moving here.   julie

My husband and I are looking for a labourer / builder with a good basic knowledge of most trades to assist us with renovation projects, this may suit somebody who is already living in France or could be an opportunity to spend time here with a view to moving permanently or a long working holiday.
