  1. We went to Le Sporting Hotel / Bar in Cerizay on Friday 14th and had a fantastic evening. The place was full with French people making up about 20% of the total and the looks on some of their faces suggested they were eating 'British' fish and chips and curry for the first time and enjoying it. The 'live' singer was a guy called Allan and he was excellent. Lots of people were up dancing and even the bar staff were bopping away behind the bar at times. When I spoke to Paul and Debbie from the curry van last Friday they said the bar owners were hoping to do it all again sometime in May. Paul said he'd be posting the information on his website so if you're interested in a good night out go to www.codandcurry.co.uk  John.
  2. Hi Dan, Friday night is curry and fish and chips night at Le Sporting Hotel in Cerizay. The food is excellent and there are lots of British people going on a regular basis so it's easy enough to get chatting. The bar's also big enough for 'the lads' to get together out of earshot of the girls if they want a bit of peace and quiet. There's live music from a British guy on Friday 14th and the last I heard it was looking like a busy evening with most of the hotel rooms booked by people staying over rather than driving home. John.
  3. Hi Bluebee, I don't know whether this is of any use to you but if not it may be to others. There was a British guy and his wife introducing themselves to people at Paul and Debbies curry van at Cerizay on Friday evening. They said they were starting a new business at Thouarsais Bouildroux in the Vendee supplying British sourced building materials. Included on their information sheet was "Have you wanted to buy British paint here in France?" They're also offering British plaster and various other difficult to do without items. I don't know if it's the done thing to give his contact details and I apologise if it isn't but you can contact him on 06.27.73.52.79 or e-mail him on [email protected] John.
  4. Baz, You're right about all the various companies loading from the same depots, but the major "brand names" have an automated system that injects their own particular additive into the base product as it is being loaded so ordinary petrol/diesel becomes their "own brand" petrol/diesel. I've always found I get at least 25 miles more from a full tank if I've filled up at a major oil company site as opposed to a supermarket or non branded smaller retailer. John.
