We want to convert 2 flats into one 3 bedroom unit. This will involve 1]a new internal staircase[upstairs flat had an outside staircase],2]removing/moving a few upstairs stud walls,3]altering/modernising both upstairs +downstairs showerroom/toilets, 4]altering/modernising downstairs kitchen, 5]half bricking up external entrance door to upstairs flat and changing to a window.  What sort of authorisation or permission do we need for each of the above tasks?

Are there any architectural salvage sites or reclamation yards near to La Rochelle?  

We have a property which according to the lead,asbestos and termite survey has old lino in a bathroom and hall which contains asbestos[produit contenant de l'amiante]. Can we remove this ourselves?, what safety precautions do we need to take? where can we dispose of this lino?
