Thanks everyone - Sanytol is on my shopping list.

This is all getting rather technical - all I want is some good old pine disinfectant or dettol - surely the French must have an equivilant!!!!

We had a family of fouines in the loft 2 years ago. OH lifted roof tiles and cleared out their 2 bed appt. We filled the area with moth balls and cotton wool balls soaked in peppermint oil. He then blocked up under the guttering with very fine metal mesh & stuffed little balls of the mesh in any hole he could see - result SUCCESS - no more fouines. Godd luck Val!!

Thanks for all your responses - will try again when I'm next shopping. I'm really looking for something 'fosse' friendly to use on pet beds.

Anyone know who sells this over here - all I seem to be able to buy is Bleach (Javel) which I don't like using. Looked in Intermarche & SuperU.

We collect URSA this afternoon from the SPA in Gueret. She's about 8yrs old - we think she a Griffon. She's been there for over three years and is very timid - so when visitors come she's passed by.We hope that with a lot of love and attention she'll come out of her shell and be adopted. So far she's had a walk round the garden on the lead - mustn't let her off in case she does a runner. Our dog - Amber, keeps going to her, but as yet no response. So here's hoping we can do some help.

Just started reading the first book - bought all three second hand. I don't want to put it down. Reading a few chapters between putting varnish on the barn doors. OH not too happy cos I've told him he can't read then until I've finished.
-
Sounds interesting - who is the author?
-
I tried abebooks.com. Very good sofar.Bought the three books by Stieg Larrson - albeit secondhand for a total of £12.60. Took a total of 9 days to arrive from ordering. Just ordered 2 more - total £5.92.Given that once read I either thake them to a brocante or give them away - not bad. Will still use Play.com for newer books.
-
Same here - we bring a box load over with us and then buy online fron Play.com - no postage charges. Only thing is, we end up with loads of books.

Again - good news and as previous, especially if it means that people will take their pets back to the UK rather than abandoning them.

We did a brocante last year. Amazed what sold - electric sockets/English books plus an assortment of things which were left by the previous owners. They last longer than in the UK but then everything stops for lunch. Some-one even wanted to buy our dog!!!! Good fun though plus we made enough money to fund a meal out.

Sounds very nice - copied recipe and will try it later in week. Have forwarded to my brother who is a veggie and will have to make it with gluten free lasagne.

I'm pleased I'm not the only one whp uses every bit of pastry. My favourite is to roll it out thinly, cover with grated cheese, fold it over twice then repeat. cut into small pieces brush with milk and bake. They don't last long once out of the oven.Remember when we where young helping mum - rolling out the bits of pastry over and over until it was grey, then making jam tarts which Dad had to eat because his little girl had made them!!!!

How did you buy from Twinnings - I like their Lemon & Ginger tea. I bought some Lemon tea over here and it tastes quite odd.

Anyone know of any dog friendly places to visit within 30 miles of Ste.Severe. We need a day out . We've exhausted the one's we know of and would like to go somewhere different.
-
Thanks for all your suggestions. Have checked Lidl but not Aldi. I did notice that in the market yesterday there was a new stall selling all sorts of loose spices including loose Red Tea - so may buy some next week.
-
Thanks - that's the one. Need to change the .com to .co.ukStill undecided whether to use them or not. Will the 20% fee they charge be a deciding factor I wonder - will my stock of Roobios tea last till the next visitor arrives????

We have both landline and internet with France Telecom/Orange. For the landline we turn it on and off via the espace client - that's if it's working - I do this from the UK the day I'm leaving. With the Internet - it's a separate contract. At first - a few years ago, it was possible to turn it on and off but now not so - as previous you have to stop and then take out a new contract. We find it easier to leave the internet in situ - I know to some it is an unnecessary expense 0f E24 per month but we find it works.

I have both landline and internet with France Telecom/Orange. I suspend the landline when in the UK - usually through the winter months. I've started using Skype to call my family in the UK - it's free.

Signed up - does this mean that we'll be able to watch TV programmes through our computers??

My niece is about to have her first baby and like others of this thread, I will be wanting to send something nice, so as others have said, I'll bite the bullet and pay the price. I've used Littlewood Europe and Debenhams - both very good> Now I'm waiting till 16th June when you'll be able to order from John Lewis online and have it delivered to France.
France Telecom - last number ?
